Function‐driven design of a surrogate interleukin‐2 receptor ligand

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Interleukin (IL)‐2 signaling can be achieved and precisely fine‐tuned through the affinity, distance, and orientation of the heterodimeric receptors with their ligands. We designed a biased IL‐2 surrogate ligand that selectively promotes effector T and natural killer cell activation and differentiation. Interleukin (IL) receptors play a pivotal role in

Flexible job-shop scheduling problem with parallel batch machines based on an enhanced multi-population genetic algorithm

open access: yesComplex & Intelligent Systems
The flexible job-shop scheduling problem (FJSP) with parallel batch processing machine (PBM) is one of those long-standing issues that needs cutting-edge approaches. It is a recent extension of standard flexible job shop scheduling problems.

Flexible Flow Shop Scheduling Problem with Reliable Transporters and Intermediate Limited Buffers via considering Learning Effects and Budget Constraint

open access: yesComplexity, 2022
In this study, a new mathematical model is presented to solve the flexible flow shop problem where transportation is reliable and there are constraints on intermediate buffers, budgets, and human resource learning effects. Firstly, the model is validated

Scheduling in a flexible flow shop with unrelated parallel machines and machine-dependent process stages: Trade-off between Makespan and production costs

open access: yesSustainability Analytics and Modeling, 2022
This paper aims to tackle bi-objective scheduling problem in a flexible flow shop containing unrelated parallel machines in the first stage. Due to the different technology levels of the parallel machines, their process speeds and production costs vary ...

A decomposition-based approach to flexible flow shop scheduling under stochastic setup times [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
Research on production scheduling under uncertainty has recently received much attention. This paper presents a novel decomposition-based approach (DBA) to flexible flow shop (FFS) scheduling under stochastic setup times.

Sequence determinants of RNA G‐quadruplex unfolding by Arg‐rich regions

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We show that Arg‐rich peptides selectively unfold RNA G‐quadruplexes, but not RNA stem‐loops or DNA/RNA duplexes. This length‐dependent activity is inhibited by acidic residues and is conserved among SR and SR‐related proteins (SRSF1, SRSF3, SRSF9, U1‐70K, and U2AF1).

NSGA-II simheuristic to solve a multi-objective flexible flow shop problem under stochastic machine breakdowns [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Project Management
This study proposes a simheuristic that hybridizes NSGA-II with Monte Carlo simulation to address a stochastic flexible flow shop problem featuring stochastic machine breakdowns.

Selected heuristic algorithms for solving job shop and flow shop scheduling problems [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
Importance of job shop and flow shop scheduling has increased to a high extent. Nowadays, each and every industry focuses largely on how to schedule their machine working, since it is an important factor which decides the net productivity.

An investigation into minimising total energy consumption and total completion time in a flexible job shop for recycling carbon fiber reinforced polymer [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
The increased use of carbon fiber reinforced polymer (CFRP) in industry coupled with European Union restrictions on landfill disposal has resulted in a need to develop relevant recycling technologies.

Structural instability impairs function of the UDP‐xylose synthase 1 Ile181Asn variant associated with short‐stature genetic syndrome in humans

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
The Ile181Asn variant of human UDP‐xylose synthase (hUXS1), associated with a short‐stature genetic syndrome, has previously been reported as inactive. Our findings demonstrate that Ile181Asn‐hUXS1 retains catalytic activity similar to the wild‐type but exhibits reduced stability, a looser oligomeric state, and an increased tendency to precipitate ...
