Improving Rutting Resistance of Pavement Structures Using Geosynthetics: An Overview

open access: yesThe Scientific World Journal, 2014
A pavement structure consists of several layers for the primary purpose of transmitting and distributing traffic loads to the subgrade. Rutting is one form of pavement distresses that may influence the performance of road pavements.

Consequences of long-term infrastructure decisions—the case of self-healing roads and their CO2 emissions [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
What could be the reduction in greenhouse gas emissions if the conventional way of maintaining roads is changed? Emissions of greenhouse gases must be reduced if global warming is to be avoided, and urgent political and technological decisions should be ...

Composition‐Tuned Enhancement of the Anomalous Nernst Effect in FeCo–Pt Thin Films on Rigid and Flexible Substrates

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Disordered (Fe50Co50)1−xPtx thin films exhibit a pronounced anomalous Nernst effect (ANE) with a strong composition dependence on both rigid and flexible substrates. The transverse thermoelectric response peaks near 22.5 at.% Pt, accompanied by enhanced αxy/σxy scaling, thermal transport, and ANE sensitivity.

Characterization of the typology of failures presented in the pavements of the city of Ocaña Norte de Santander

open access: yesRevista Ingenio, 2017
The failures in the pavements are presented by the progressive deterioration that occurs over time. One way to identify failures is through a visual inspection, which is how in this investigation several sections of the main urban roads in the ...

Obtaining the fatigue laws of bituminous mixtures from a strain sweep test: effect of temperature and aging [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
Fatigue is associated with the deterioration caused by applying repeated loads, and is affected by temperature or aging. Generally, time sweep tests are used to simulate fatigue, in order to obtain the fatigue laws.

A Lightweight Procedural Layer for Hybrid Experimental–Computational Workflows in Materials Science

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
We unveil a prototype hybrid‐workflow framework that fuses automatedcomputation with hands‐on experiments. Built atop pyiron, a lightweight, parameterized layer translates procedure descriptions into executable manual steps, syncing instrument settings, human interventions, and data capture in real‐time today.
