The (Glg)ABCs of cyanobacteria: modelling of glycogen synthesis and functional divergence of glycogen synthases in Synechocystis sp. PCC 6803

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We reconstituted Synechocystis glycogen synthesis in vitro from purified enzymes and showed that two GlgA isoenzymes produce glycogen with different architectures: GlgA1 yields denser, highly branched glycogen, whereas GlgA2 synthesizes longer, less‐branched chains.

Engineered Microstructure Derived Hierarchical Deformation of Flexible Pressure Sensor Induces a Supersensitive Piezoresistive Property in Broad Pressure Range

open access: yesAdvanced Science, 2020
Fabricating flexible pressure sensors with high sensitivity in a broad pressure range is still a challenge. Herein, a flexible pressure sensor with engineered microstructures on polydimethylsiloxane (PDMS) film is designed.

Capture of free-flying payloads with flexible space manipulators [PDF]

open access: yes
A recently developed control system for capturing free-flying payloads with flexible manipulators is discussed. Three essential points in this control system are, calculating optimal path, using a vision sensor for an external sensor, and controlling ...

A flexible organic reflectance oximeter array. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
Transmission-mode pulse oximetry, the optical method for determining oxygen saturation in blood, is limited to only tissues that can be transilluminated, such as the earlobes and the fingers.

Structural biology of ferritin nanocages

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Ferritin is a conserved iron‐storage protein that sequesters iron as a ferric mineral core within a nanocage, protecting cells from oxidative damage and maintaining iron homeostasis. This review discusses ferritin biology, structure, and function, and highlights recent cryo‐EM studies revealing mechanisms of ferritinophagy, cellular iron uptake, and ...

Adenosine‐to‐inosine editing of miR‐200b‐3p is associated with the progression of high‐grade serous ovarian cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
A‐to‐I editing of miRNAs, particularly miR‐200b‐3p, contributes to HGSOC progression by enhancing cancer cell proliferation, migration and 3D growth. The edited form is linked to poorer patient survival and the identification of novel molecular targets.

Flexible photonic sensors realized using printing technologies [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
Making sensors flexible and thin, is key to apply them on curved, moving surfaces, e.g. for wearable applications or to embed them in mechanical structures. Photonic sensor systems require the integration of microstructures (e.g.
