Grading medial compartment tightness among varus osteoarthritic knees during image-free robot-assisted total knee arthroplasty for optimized pre-resection gap balancing

open access: yesBone & Joint Open
Aims: Robot-assisted total knee arthroplasty (RA-TKA) allows for calibrated pre-resection gap balancing (PRGB). Complete PRGB is considered inappropriate as some gap tightness resolves spontaneously during surgery.

IMPROVEMENT OF THE MECHANICAL PROPERTIES OF CEMENTITIOUS BIO-COMPOSITES REINFORCED WITH GREEN BIO-FIBERS: EFFECT OF THE PRETREATMENT PARAMETERS [PDF]

open access: yesProceedings on Engineering Sciences
The valorization of plant fibers in construction and civil engineering is crucial since the products obtained are not subject to strict quality standards.

A light‐triggered Time‐Resolved X‐ray Solution Scattering (TR‐XSS) workflow with application to protein conformational dynamics

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Time‐resolved X‐ray solution scattering captures how proteins change shape in real time under near‐native conditions. This article presents a practical workflow for light‐triggered TR‐XSS experiments, from data collection to structural refinement. Using a calcium‐transporting membrane protein as an example, the approach can be broadly applied to study ...

In vivo 3D kinematic analysis of cervical facet joints under physiological loading in healthy individuals

open access: yesBone & Joint Research
Aims: As cervical total disc arthroplasty progresses, the biomechanics and physiology of cervical facet joints are gaining more attention. Yet, knowledge of their in vivo kinematics and synergistic functions remains limited.

Promiscuous stimulation of HSP70 ATPase activity by parasite‐derived J‐domains

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
The malaria parasite Plasmodium falciparum exports three highly homologous yet functionally divergent J‐domain proteins into human erythrocytes. Here, we show that J‐domains isolated from all three proteins effectively stimulate the ATPase activity of both endogenous host and exported parasite HSP70 chaperones.

Effect of trunk flexion speed on flexion relaxation of erector spinae

open access: yesAustralian Journal of Physiotherapy, 1995
Flexion relaxation of erector spinae (ES) has mainly been studied during slow trunk movements. Due to the viscoelastic properties of spinal ligaments, the ES activity may change at different movement speeds. Twenty-one normal females (20-25 years) were examined during slow, intermediate and natural speeds of trunk flexion.

Screening and epitope characterization of Nidogen‐2‐specific nanobodies

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Camel immunization and phage display were employed to generate high‐affinity VHH nanobodies against Nidogen‐2. After library construction, biopanning, ELISA screening, sequencing, and recombinant expression, selected nanobodies were purified and characterized, leading to the preliminary exploration of a nanobody‐based sandwich ELISA for specific ...

Faire de l'original à tout prix

open access: yesÉtudes romanes de Brno, 2013
In a letter to his sister, Jules Laforgue declared that he "had but one single aim: to be original at all costs in his "little fantasy poems"", which he was writing at the time.

Spreading pattern of contrast medium in the high thoracic epidural space in rabbits: the effect of neck flexion and extension [PDF]

open access: yesKorean Journal of Anesthesiology, 2010
BackgroundNeck flexion has been shown to increase cranial spread of contrast agent when a small fixed volume was injected into the high thoracic epidural space.
