Emergence and Transformation of Polar Skyrmion Lattices via Flexoelectricity

open access: yesnpj Computational Materials
Abstract As analogies to magnetic skyrmions, polar skyrmions in ferroelectric superlattices and multilayers have garnered widespread attention for their non-trivial topology and novel properties like negative capacitance and nonlinear optical effect.

Investigation of flexoelectricity and ionic contamination in nematic liquid crystals [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
The work presented is a study of nematic liquid crystal physical properties. One of the phenomenon investigated is the bistability or in other words, the ability of the director of the material to rest in different orientations as function of the ...

Flexoelectric deformation of a homogeneously polarized ball

open access: yes, 2013
The problem of finding the elastic strains arising due to the converse flexoelectric effect is solved for a case of uniformly polarized ball of isotropic dielectric material. The strains occurs due to the fact that, as shown in a previous paper, in presence of flexoelectricity elastic boundary condition has non-classical form.

A Pollen‐Enhanced Bionic Mechanoreceptor Induced by Asymmetric Ionic Convection in Hydrogel for Sensory‐Augmented Prostheses

open access: yesAdvanced Science, Volume 13, Issue 49, 3 September 2026.
This work proposed a pollen‐enhanced bionic mechanoreceptor based on ionic convection. Leveraging the ion anchoring effect of the pollen particle, the output performance could be ∼12 times higher than the original state. By employing deep learning models as AI brains, the feasibility of a sensory‐augmented prosthesis consisting of a pollen‐enhanced ...

Flexoelectric Polarization‐Enhanced Gd‐Based Nanoflowers for Efficient Phosphatase‐Mimicking Dephosphorylation

open access: yesSmall Structures
Phosphatase‐mimicking nanozymes provide highly stable enzyme‐like activity but remain limited by their static catalytic nature. Herein, this study achieves flexoelectricity‐driven dynamic modulation of nanozyme activity by employing gadolinium‐based ...

Direction of flexoelectric polarization in smectic CG* phases of chiral smectic liquid crystals

open access: yes, 2014
Polarization in antiferroelectric liquid crystals has two origins: The piezoelectric polarization which is of chiral origin and the flexoelectric polarization which originates in different orientation of tilts in neighboring layers.

Flexoelectric polarization–electric field coupling-driven phase transformation in epitaxial films

open access: yes
Nanoscale phase transformations at interfaces enable unprecedented control over the structure and functionalities of low-dimensional materials. Flexoelectric polarization, universally produced by the strain gradient in all dielectrics, can be directly ...
