Distribution of Bryophytes in South-Eastern Brazil: An Approach on Floristic Similarity and Environmental Filtering

open access: yesCryptogamie, Bryologie, 2017
The south-eastern Brazil comprises the Atlantic forest (a region mainly characterized by tropical evergreen forest), subtropical forest, mangroves, and scrub sandbanks. Sandy areas are found at sea level, and high altitude grassland spots and rocky outcrops occur above 2000 m.

Computer assisted floristic similarity analysis

Folia Geobotanica Et Phytotaxonomica, 1971
A program for polythetic numerical evaluation of phytosociological material is described. Using Sorensen's coefficient of floristic similarity it computes the homogeneity of subjectively chosen sets of releves, the affinity of each constituent releve to the set as well as the similarity between any pair of sets.

Delimitation and ranking of floristic-sociological units on the basis of relevé similarity

Plant Ecology, 1977
The present information deals with the possibility of using coefficients of releve similarity for the delimitation of units in floristic-sociological synsystematics in the sense as used by the Braun-Blanquet approach.

Estimation of the mean floristic similarity between and within sets of vegetational relevés

Folia Geobotanica Et Phytotaxonomica, 1966
Various possibilities of usingSorensen’s coefficient of floristic similarity in plant sociology are summarized. A new formula (11). derived from that bySorensen and based on constancy values, is suggested in order to calculate the mean floristic similarity within a set of releves.

Paradox of afforestation in cities in the Brazilian Amazon: An understanding of the composition and floristic similarity of these urban green spaces

Urban Forestry and Urban Greening, 2021
Abstract Urban green spaces play an important role in improving the quality of life and sustainability in cities and require careful empirical evaluation. This study looked into the contradiction of native species being underrepresented in urban environments in Brazilian Amazon cities, compared to exotic species that have been introduced.

Floristic similarity, diversity, and endemism as indicators of refugia characteristics and needs in the West

Biodiversity, 2015
The floras of mountain ranges, and their similarity, beta diversity, and endemism, are indicative of processes of community assembly; they are also the initial conditions for coming disassembly and reassembly in response to climate change. As such, these characteristics can inform thinking on refugia.

Upward shift of alpine plants increases floristic similarity of mountain summits

Journal of Vegetation Science, 2007
AbstractQuestion: Does the upward shift of species and accompanied increase in species richness, induced by climate change, lead to homogenization of Alpine summit vegetation?Location: Bernina region of the Swiss Alps. Methods: Based on a data set from previous literature we expand the analysis from species richness to beta‐diversity and spatial ...

FLORISTIC SIMILARITIES AMONG 51 REGIONS OF THE SOVIET UNION BASED ON THE BRASSICACEAE

TAXON, 1982
SummaryFloristic similarities among 51 geographic regions in 7 superregions of the Soviet Union were analyzed using distributonal data of 736 species of the Brassicaceae. Due to the high number of species, they were grouped into 9 tribes before analysis.

Floristic similarities between lowland and montane areas of Atlantic Coastal Forest in Northeastern Brazil

Plant Ecology, 2004
Studies undertaken in the Atlantic Coastal Forest have revealed a notable floristic heterogeneity within this vegetation type in NE Brazil. However, there is still a great need for detailed comparisons of the floristic relationships between the various forest types found there.
