Biomineral‐Inspired Organic/Inorganic Colloidal Liquid‐Crystalline Hybrids for Photoresponsive Adhesion

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A new class of photoresponsive liquid‐crystalline (LC) adhesives based on biomineral‐inspired organic/inorganic colloidal hybrids is reported. These colloidal LC materials are formed by hybridization of a hydroxyapatite nanorod with azobenzene‐based forklike molecules.

Flow-induced crystallization of piezoelectric poly(L-lactide) fibers by a one-step melt-spinning process

open access: yesMaterials & Design
Piezoelectric poly(L-lactide) (PLLA) fibers, exhibiting high molecular chain orientation, are promising for biomedical applications. Chain orientation decreases due to fast relaxation during melt-spinning process, which implies that a second process to ...

Spatial-Temporal Phenomena in the Flows of Multi-Component

open access: yesApplied Rheology, 2015
Measuring the rheological properties of multi-component (and multi-phase) systems meets with many special problems which are absent in flows of homogeneous materials. Such complex fluids have inherent structure and all the peculiarities of their behavior

Flow-Induced Crystallization Starting from Self-Nucleated Precursors

open access: yes
Flow-induced crystallization is a multistep process, in which precursors are often generated as a crucial ordering state intermediate between the initial amorphous state and the ultimate crystallite.

Bio‐Inspired Artificial Ionic Mechanoreceptor

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A skin‐inspired artificial mechanoreceptor based on ionic interactions is presented for biomimetic tactile sensing. Pressure‐driven ionic redistribution within microfluidic channels generates a self‐powered electrical signal without external bias. The generated waveform exhibits mechanoreceptor‐like temporal features, including overshoot and undershoot,

Electrically Induced Phase Transition and Synaptic Functionality in MoTe2/Graphene Memristors

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
An electrically induced reversible 2H ↔ 1T′ phase transition is demonstrated in a vertical Au/Ti/MoTe2/graphene memristor with a laterally contacted graphene electrode. Resistive switching proceeds through a compositionally invariant amorphous/2H ↔ amorphous/1T′ transformation, in which a self‐formed amorphous MoTe2 interfacial region is proposed to ...
