Curvature Fields, Topology, and the Dynamics of Spatiotemporal Chaos [PDF]

open access: yes, 2007
The curvature field is measured from tracer particle trajectories in a two-dimensional fluid flow that exhibits spatiotemporal chaos, and is used to extract the hyperbolic and elliptic points of the flow.

Transferrin receptor 1‐mediated iron uptake supports thermogenic activation in human cervical‐derived adipocytes

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
In this study, we found that human cervical‐derived adipocytes maintain intracellular iron level by regulating the expression of iron transport‐related proteins during adrenergic stimulation. Melanotransferrin is predicted to interact with transferrin receptor 1 based on in silico analysis.

PatchBatch: A Batch Augmented Loss for Optical Flow [PDF]

open access: yes2016 IEEE Conference on Computer Vision and Pattern Recognition (CVPR), 2016
We propose a new pipeline for optical flow computation, based on Deep Learning techniques. We suggest using a Siamese CNN to independently, and in parallel, compute the descriptors of both images. The learned descriptors are then compared efficiently using the L2 norm and do not require network processing of patch pairs.

Structural insights into an engineered feruloyl esterase with improved MHET degrading properties

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
A feruloyl esterase was engineered to mimic key features of MHETase, enhancing the degradation of PET oligomers. Structural and computational analysis reveal how a point mutation stabilizes the active site and reshapes the binding cleft, expading substrate scope.

Unsteady Characteristics of Nonlinear Pressure Loss in a Flow through a Restrictor

open access: yesJournal of Fluid Science and Technology, 2008
To elucidate the unsteady characteristics of a nonlinear pressure loss generated in a restricted flow, pressure drops across and flow rates through an orifice were precisely measured in sinusoidally oscillating oil flows.

High-pT pi0 Production with Respect to the Reaction Plane Using the PHENIX Detector at RHIC [PDF]

open access: yes, 2006
The origin of the azimuthal anisotropy in particle yields at high pT (pT > 5 GeV/c) in RHIC collisions remains an intriguing puzzle. Traditional flow and parton energy loss models have failed to completely explain the large v2 observed at high pT ...

Flow distortion and signal loss in spiral imaging [PDF]

open access: yesMagnetic Resonance in Medicine, 1999
The effect of in-plane motion on the point spread function (velocity PSF) in spiral imaging is studied experimentally and derived mathematically and is shown to consist of a smoothed, trailing edge and fringes around the leading edge. The velocity PSF remains largely in phase with the static PSF, consistent with the absence of signal loss by motion ...

A methionine‐lined active site governs carbocation stabilization and product specificity in a bacterial terpene synthase

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This study reveals a unique active site enriched in methionine residues and demonstrates that these residues play a critical role by stabilizing carbocation intermediates through novel sulfur–cation interactions. Structure‐guided mutagenesis further revealed variants with significantly altered product profiles, enhancing pseudopterosin formation. These

Flow regime transition maps and pressure loss prediction of gas, oil and water three-phase flow in the vertical riser downstream 90° bend using data driven approach

open access: yesDigital Chemical Engineering
The simultaneous flow of gas, oil & water is frequently encountered in pipelines during upstream petroleum operations. The multiphase flow results in different types of flow patterns based on the flow rates of fluids, physical properties and geometry

Linking neurogenesis, oligodendrogenesis, and myelination defects to neurodevelopmental disruption in primary mitochondrial disorders

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Mitochondrial remodeling shapes neural and glial lineage progression by matching metabolic supply with demand. Elevated OXPHOS supports differentiation and myelin formation, while myelin compaction lowers mitochondrial dependence, revealing mitochondria as key drivers of developmental energy adaptation.
