Microbiome‐blood–brain barrier interactions in aging — mechanisms and therapeutic potential

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Aging reshapes the gut microbiome (↓SCFA‐producing commensals; ↑pro‐inflammatory outputs), shifting circulating metabolites (↓SCFAs; ↑LPS, ↑TMAO, ↑PAA) that act at the BBB to increase nonspecific transcytosis, alter transport, and promote astrocyte reactivity, heightening brain vulnerability.

Applying of depth-averaged hydrodynamic modeling with different methods of turbulence closure for flow near channel groyne. Part I – hydrodynamic background

open access: yesITM Web of Conferences, 2018
Training structures in flow stream play an important role in shaping flow and bed properties. Planning to introduce such training elements like groins or dikes into the river stream one need to know consequences they may introduce into flow field and bed

Nutrient/TOR signaling controls adipose mitochondrial transcription factor A (TFAM) to regulate organismal growth in Drosophila

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Animals must match their growth rate to available nutrients. We show that in Drosophila larvae, the nutrient‐sensing TOR kinase controls growth by regulating levels of TFAM, a key regulator of mitochondrial function, in the adipose tissue. When nutrients are abundant, high TOR activity suppresses TFAM, lowering mitochondrial bioenergetic activity and ...

Peripheral lysosomes recruit PLEKHG3 to focal adhesions and restrain protrusion dynamics

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Proximity‐dependent labeling at the LAMTOR complex revealed the Rho GEF PLEKHG3 as a lysosome‐proximal protein directing the study toward the influence of lysosome positioning on actin dynamics and cell motility. We show that PLEKHG3 colocalizes with lysosomes at focal adhesion sites and observe that forced peripheral dispersion of lysosomes hinders ...

Engineering peptides into antibodies—opportunities and strategies for therapeutic innovation

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Peptides and antibodies occupy complementary therapeutic niches. Peptides recognize difficult targets in a compact format, while antibodies add specificity, long half‐life, and effector functions. This review examines strategies that merge both modalities—peptide grafting into loops, terminal and Fc fusions, and bioconjugation—highlighting how ...

Liver organoids: modelling complexity in homeostasis and disease

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Studying liver in vitro has been challenging because simple 2D cell cultures fail to capture liver's cellular and architectural complexity. To bridge this gap, scientists increasingly use organoids, 3D liver models which better mimic liver composition and function. This review examines recent advances in liver organoid complexity and realism, discusses

Research of hydrodynamic processes in the flow part of a low-flow thermopressor

open access: yesJournal of Energy Systems
This research explores the hydrodynamic processes within the flow section of a low-flow thermopressor as a jet-type heat exchanger that utilizes the instantaneous evaporation of highly dispersed liquid in accelerated superheated gas flow resulting in reducing gas temperature with minimum resistance losses in contrast to conventional surface heat ...

The microbiome in human skin aging

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Age‐related skin changes encompass the well‐known visible phenotypic alterations, together with microbiome dysbiosis and a series of molecular aging hallmarks. These hallmarks characterize not only a fully stablished aged phenotype but also the skin aging process itself.

Flow Theory Part IV

open access: yes
This fourth volume of the Universal Flow Theory extends the flow–formframework into quantum systems, atomic structures, molecular chemistry,solid-state physics, and multiscale material behaviour. The work unifiesgas dynamics, liquid mechanics, rheology, crystallography, and quantumprocesses through the State Coefficient S, which represents thefractal ...

Autophagy and mitophagy in pancreatic β‐cell homeostasis and their involvement in diabetes pathophysiology

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This review focuses on the role of autophagy and mitophagy in maintaining pancreatic β‐cell function and homeostasis. We discuss how genetic defects affecting these pathways contribute to the development of type 1, type 2, monogenic, and gestational diabetes. We further explore their potential as therapeutic targets. Created in BioRender.
