Failure criteria and flow rules of geomaterials

Revue Française de Génie Civil, 2004
ABSTRACT Essentially because of the non-associative character of geomaterials plastic strains, many bifurcations leading to various failure mechanisms exist strictly inside the plastic limit condition. The equations of the boundaries of the failure domain and of the cones of unstable stress directions are first exhibited for axisymmetric conditions ...

Solid-flow: A flow rules security mechanism for SDN

2017 3rd International Conference of Cloud Computing Technologies and Applications (CloudTech), 2017
Software-Defined Networking (SDN) is a new approach that aims to virtualize networking by decoupling data plan from the control plan. As this approach influenced many actors in the networking community because of its agility, programmability and central management. Many questions have been raised about issues that come with it.

Laminar Flow and Turbulent Flow (The Similarity Rule)

2016
When considering the fluid motion, it is convenient to express the fundamental equations in a dimensionless form. For simplicity, we consider a one-dimensional flow of incompressible fluid that flows perpendicular to the direction of gravitational force.

The extended flow rule in plasticity

International Journal of Plasticity, 1997
Abstract The extension of the elastoplastic constitutive equation so as to describe the dependencies of the :magnitude and the direction of plastic stretching on those of stress rate has been one of the most pressing problems in elastoplasticity. To this aim, various models have been proposed in the past.

Flow rule effects in the Tresca model

Computers and Geotechnics, 2008
Abstract The Tresca failure criterion is used regularly in geotechnical engineering to compute the failure loads of clay soils deforming under undrained conditions. When this criterion is used together with the finite element method a plastic flow rule must also be incorporated in the elasto-plastic soil model.

Generalized plastic flow rule

International Journal of Plasticity, 2005
Abstract An elastoplastic constitutive equation capable of describing the tangential-plastic strain rate induced by the component of stress rate tangential to the subloading surface, called the tangential-plastic stress rate , is proposed based on the subloading surface model [J. Appl. Mech. (ASME) 47 (1980) 266].

Classes of flow rules for finite viscoplasticity

International Journal of Plasticity, 2003
Abstract Classes of flow rules for finite viscoplasticity are defined by assuming that certain measures for plastic strain rate and plastic spin depend on the state variables but not on the plastic deformation. It is shown that three of these classes are mutually exclusive for finite elastic strains.

The associated flow rule of plasticity

Journal of the Mechanics and Physics of Solids, 1957
Abstract The workhardening and linearity hypotheses introduced by Drucker are logically equivalent to the hypotheses of the existence of the plastic potential and of its identity with tlie yield function. Since neither of these sets of hypotheses is deducible from established physical laws, the author suggests that they are alternative statements

Plastic Flow Rule of Laminated Composites

Journal of Composite Materials, 1976
A plastic flow rule for laminated media is derived. It is based on a three-dimensional lamination theory which has been used previously to provide an effective elastic stress-strain relation and an anisotropic yield condition. For layers that are isotropic and follow a piece-wise linear flow rule, an explicit anisotropic plastic stress-strain relation
