An upstream open reading frame regulates expression of the mitochondrial protein Slm35 and mitophagy flux

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This study reveals how the mitochondrial protein Slm35 is regulated in Saccharomyces cerevisiae. The authors identify stress‐responsive DNA elements and two upstream open reading frames (uORFs) in the 5′ untranslated region of SLM35. One uORF restricts translation, and its mutation increases Slm35 protein levels and mitophagy.

Separated nozzle flow

open access: yesComptes Rendus. Mécanique, 2018
A separated turbulent flow in an axisymmetrical nozzle is studied numerically. Two configurations nozzle are investigated. The first one is the truncated ideal contour nozzle, DLR-TIC, is fed with nitrogen. The second configuration is called the thrust optimized contour nozzle or TOC type, ONERA-TOC, where the operating gas is a hot air.

Flow separation detector [PDF]

open access: yes, 1977
An arrangement for sensing the fluid separation along a surface which employs a thermally insulating element having a continuous surface blending into and forming a part of the fluid flow surface is described.

Viscous effects on the position of cavitation separation from smooth bodies [PDF]

open access: yes, 1975
Flow visualization by the schlieren technique in the neighbourhood of a fully developed cavity on two axisymmetric headforms has shown the existence of laminar boundary-layer separation upstream of cavitation separation, and the distance between the two ...

Sequence determinants of RNA G‐quadruplex unfolding by Arg‐rich regions

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We show that Arg‐rich peptides selectively unfold RNA G‐quadruplexes, but not RNA stem‐loops or DNA/RNA duplexes. This length‐dependent activity is inhibited by acidic residues and is conserved among SR and SR‐related proteins (SRSF1, SRSF3, SRSF9, U1‐70K, and U2AF1).

Dynamic flow distortion investigation in an S-duct using DDES and SPIV data [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
The dynamic flow distortion generated within convoluted aero-engine intakes can affect the performance and operability of the engine. There is a need for a better understanding of the main flow mechanisms which promote flow distortion at the exit of S ...

Structural instability impairs function of the UDP‐xylose synthase 1 Ile181Asn variant associated with short‐stature genetic syndrome in humans

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
The Ile181Asn variant of human UDP‐xylose synthase (hUXS1), associated with a short‐stature genetic syndrome, has previously been reported as inactive. Our findings demonstrate that Ile181Asn‐hUXS1 retains catalytic activity similar to the wild‐type but exhibits reduced stability, a looser oligomeric state, and an increased tendency to precipitate ...

Analysis and Identification of the Flow Pattern in a Specific High-Pressure Axial Turbine in Off-Design Conditions [PDF]

open access: yesفناوری در مهندسی هوافضا
This research aims to identify the flow pattern in off-design conditions of a specific high-pressure axial turbine. The turbine was designed by writing the preliminary design code. Then, the geometry of this turbine was designed in CATIA and Ansys Design

The (Glg)ABCs of cyanobacteria: modelling of glycogen synthesis and functional divergence of glycogen synthases in Synechocystis sp. PCC 6803

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We reconstituted Synechocystis glycogen synthesis in vitro from purified enzymes and showed that two GlgA isoenzymes produce glycogen with different architectures: GlgA1 yields denser, highly branched glycogen, whereas GlgA2 synthesizes longer, less‐branched chains.

Flow Behavior analysis over the NACA 4412 airfoil at Different angles of attack [PDF]

open access: yesEPJ Web of Conferences
To design and optimize wings, rotor blades and aircraft, it is essential to have a good understanding of the aerodynamic properties of the wing. The aim of this numerical study is to examine and analyze the aerodynamic characteristics of a NACA4412 ...
