Flow Simulator - a flow-based network simulator

EUROCON 2007 - The International Conference on "Computer as a Tool", 2007
This paper describes a network simulation tool working at a flow level basis. The tool, written in C++, was developed specially for the flow aware networking (FAN) architecture -it assumes fair queueing according to the priority fair queueing and priority deficit round robin algorithms.

Simulation of Cavitating Flows in Turbopumps

41st Aerospace Sciences Meeting and Exhibit, 2003
Simulations of a cavitating inducer at design flow conditions are reported in this paper. The ability of a Navier-Stokes based, multiphase formulation in modeling the effects of large-scale extensive cavitation on the performance of inducers is demonstrated. The simulations were performed on the Simplex inducer geometry that has been extensively tested

TRANSIENT SIMULATION OF RADIATING FLOWS

Proceeding of the 4th International Symposium on Radiative Transfer, 2004
Abstract Time-dependent Navier–Stokes equations are solved in conjunction with the radiative transfer equation by coupling a previously developed direct numerical simulation-based computational fluid dynamics code to an existing radiation code, both based on the method of lines approach.

Simulating hospital patient flows

Journal of the Royal Society for the Promotion of Health, 1998
This case study development has benefited by the use of clear on-screen logic which has facilitated useful discussions between the analyst and end-users. The screen displays enable a realistic depiction of a system to be developed. A simple first model was gradually made more realistic in a step-by-step process involving both analyst and end-users. The

Numerical Simulation of Electroosmotic Flow

Analytical Chemistry, 1998
We have developed a numerical scheme to simulate electroosmotic flows in complicated geometries. We studied the electroosmotic injection characteristics of a cross-channel device for capillary electrophoresis. We found that the desired rectangular shape of the sample plug at the intersection of the cross-channel can be obtained when the injection is ...

Destination Flow for Crowd Simulation

2012
We present a crowd simulation that captures some of the semantics of a specific scene by partly reproducing its motion behaviors, both at a lower level using a steering model and at the higher level of goal selection. To this end, we use and generalize a steering model based on linear velocity prediction, termed LTA.

Parallel simulation of particulate flows

1998
We present the design of software packages called Particle Movers that have been developed to simulate the motion of particles in two dimensional domains. These simulations require the solution of nonlinear Navier-Stokes equations for fluids coupled with Newton's equations for particle dynamics.

Simulation of blood flow in microgravity

The American Journal of Surgery, 1992
Knowledge of venous, capillary, and arterial blood flow in microgravity is required to modify hemostatic techniques for control of bleeding in traumatic injuries or surgical procedures in space. To simulate human arterial, venous, and capillary bleeding, fresh whole bovine blood was injected by two operators at calculated flow rates (3.5, 7, and 14 mL ...
