Velocity inversion in nanochannel flow [PDF]

open access: yesPhysical Review E, 2007
The nanoscale cylindrical Couette flow is investigated by means of molecular dynamics simulations, in the case where the inner cylinder is rotating whereas the outer cylinder is at rest. We find that the tangential velocity of the low is inverted when the fluid-wall interaction near the outer cylinder is weak and the fluid density is low.

Flow velocities of Alaskan glaciers [PDF]

open access: yesNature Communications, 2013
Our poor understanding of tidewater glacier dynamics remains the primary source of uncertainty in sea level rise projections. On the ice sheets, mass lost from tidewater calving exceeds the amount lost from surface melting. In Alaska, the magnitude of calving mass loss remains unconstrained, yet immense calving losses have been observed.

Influence factors of pressure loss in pipeline transportation of paste slurry

open access: yes工程科学学报, 2015
A new pipe loop test platform was built to study the influence factors and levels of pressure loss in slurry pipe transportation. The influences of pipe inner-diameter, flow velocity, slurry concentration and particle size on the pressure loss were ...

Patches in a side-by-side configuration: a description of the flow and deposition fields [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
In the last few decades, a lot of research attention has been paid to flow-vegetation interactions. Starting with the description of the flow field around uniform macrophyte stands, research has evolved more recently to the description of flow fields ...

Parameter Analysis of Savonius Hydraulic Turbine Considering the Effect of Reducing Flow Velocity

open access: yesEnergies, 2019
The Savonius-type hydraulic turbine, mainly known for its good self-starting properties and simple structure, not only has energy capturing characteristics but also has a certain effect on flow velocity reduction.

A Flow Velocity Measurement Method Based on a PVDF Piezoelectric Sensor

open access: yesItalian National Conference on Sensors, 2019
To measure the flow velocity of a fluid without affecting its motion state, a method was proposed based on a polyvinylidene fluoride (PVDF) piezoelectric film sensor.

Measurement of unsteady velocity flow field of pulsating flow

open access: yesEPJ Web of Conferences, 2016
This paper describes an investigation of the commercial synthetic jet actuator “SynJet ZFlow 90 Outdoor Cooler” (Nuventix). The velocity flow field was investigated using the thermoanemometry method in the constant temperature mode.

NSFnets (Navier-Stokes flow nets): Physics-informed neural networks for the incompressible Navier-Stokes equations [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Computational Physics, 2020
We employ physics-informed neural networks (PINNs) to simulate the incompressible flows ranging from laminar to turbulent flows. We perform PINN simulations by considering two different formulations of the Navier-Stokes equations: the velocity-pressure ...

Correlations between sunspots and their moat flows [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
Context. The presence of the moat flow around sunspots is intimately linked to the mere existence of sunspots. Aims. We characterize the moat flow (MF) and Evershed flow (EF) in sunspots to enhance our knowledge of sunspot structures and photospheric ...
