Vertical Distribution of Nearshore Flow Velocity

open access: yesPolish Maritime Research, 2016
In this paper, a new exponential formed vertical distribution of nearshore flow velocity is constructed, which is simpler in form and more suitable for engineering application. The physical meaning of the new formula is more specific than that of Soulsby.

Mesoscopic seepage velocity characteristics during heap leaching based on magnetic resonance imaging

open access: yes工程科学学报, 2015
Column leaching seepage processes were detected in a non-contact and non-destructive way by magnetic resonance imaging. Column leaching images were obtained when the flow was stationary and running.

Refinement of turbulent flow velocity characteristics [PDF]

open access: yesИнженерно-строительный журнал, 2013
The basic laws of Prandtl semi-empirical turbulence theory were analyzed in the article. It was shown, that the Prandtl – Nikuradse logarithmic distribution of velocities are not strictly universal. The change of the first and second turbulence constants

Non-invasive assessment for intratumoural distribution of interstitial fluid flow

open access: yesMagnetic Resonance Letters, 2023
Interstitial fluid plays a vital role in drug delivery and tumour treatment. However, few non-invasive measurement methods are available for measuring low-velocity biological fluid flow.

SWIRL FLOW ANALYSIS BASED ON ELECTRICAL CAPACITANCE TOMOGRAPHY

open access: yesInformatyka, Automatyka, Pomiary w Gospodarce i Ochronie Środowiska, 2016
This paper describes an application of dual-plane Electrical Capacitance Tomography (ECT) system for gas-solid swirl flow measuremetns. The angular component of the velocity in the pipes cross section was calculated.

Experimental Investigation of the Effect of Hydraulic Jump Location on Flow Velocity in Type II Stilling Basin [PDF]

open access: yesعلوم و مهندسی آبیاری, 2014
Hydraulic condition of stilling basin, in particular, the flow rate passing through chute spillway, as well as the location of hydraulic jump plays an important role on velocity fluctuations in a stilling basin.

Cognitive Functioning in Vorinostat‐Treated Pediatric and Young Adult Patients Over the First 180 Days After Hematopoietic Stem Cell Transplant

open access: yesPediatric Blood &Cancer, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Purpose Cognitive and psychological difficulties could negatively interfere with treatment adherence and quality of life before and after hematopoietic stem cell transplant (HSCT). Methods to mitigate these changes may have positive effects on treatment success.

An upstream open reading frame regulates expression of the mitochondrial protein Slm35 and mitophagy flux

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This study reveals how the mitochondrial protein Slm35 is regulated in Saccharomyces cerevisiae. The authors identify stress‐responsive DNA elements and two upstream open reading frames (uORFs) in the 5′ untranslated region of SLM35. One uORF restricts translation, and its mutation increases Slm35 protein levels and mitophagy.

The impact of water flow rate on the dynamic dissolution kinetics of fractured limestone formations

open access: yesFrontiers in Earth Science
To break through the lithological constraints on the surrounding rock for the construction of underground water-sealed oil storage caverns, and considering limestone as a potential host rock for such caverns, the dynamic evolution law of fracture ...

Velocity Correlations in Dense Granular Flows [PDF]

open access: yesPhysical Review Letters, 2004
Velocity fluctuations of grains flowing down a rough inclined plane are experimentally studied. The grains at the free surface exhibit fluctuating motions, which are correlated over few grains diameters. The characteristic correlation length is shown to depend on the inclination of the plane and not on the thickness of the flowing layer.
