Genome-wide SSR marker development and application in molecular breeding of Hemerocallis
The Hemerocallis genus belongs to the Asphodelaceae family and is a perennial herbaceous plant. To facilitate molecular breeding and industrial development in Hemerocallis, this study developed genome-wide simple sequence repeat (SSR) markers based on ...

Small RNAs in flower development
Development of multi-cellular organisms depends on the correct spatial and temporal expression of numerous genes acting in concert to form regulatory networks. The expression of individual genes can be controlled at different levels, e.g. at the transcriptional level by sequence-specific binding of transcription factors and/or by epigenetic ...

Aqueous Two‐Phase Bioinks for Discrete Packing and Compartmentalization of 3D Bioprinted Cells
Aqueous two‐phase systems (ATPS) enable the formation of biomimetic interfaces crucial for tissue engineering. However, clinical translation remains limited by the challenge of precisely controlling cellular compartmentalization. Here, we developed ATPS biomaterial inks for 3D bioprinting allowing tuneable droplet formation via NaCl modulation.

A bioassembly approach is described using photo‐crosslinked gelatin‐based microgels containing calcium peroxide (CaO2) to generate oxygen (O2) and enhance cell survival in hypoxic conditions (1% O2). Bioassembly enables spatial patterning of individual CaO2‐laden and mesenchymal stem cell (MSC)‐laden microgels and allows for decoupling and mitigating ...

Osteogenic‐angiogenic cross‐talk is a vital prerequisite for vascularized bone regeneration. In this study, we investigated the effects of siRNA‐mediated silencing of two inhibitory proteins, Chordin and WWP‐1, via CaP‐NP‐loaded gelatin microparticles in osteogenically differentiated microtissues.

This research shows the development of hydrogels with Diels‐Alder click chemistry for engineering cartilage‐like tissue. The hydrogels support cartilage spheroids which could be cultured for at least 28 days. Furthermore, the spheroids showed a tendency to fuse together into a more consistent construct, and produced important components needed for ...

A single object with dual properties – degradable and non‐degradable – is fabricated in a single print simply by switching the printing colors. The advanced multi‐material printing is enabled by the combination of a fully wavelength‐orthogonal photoresin and a monochromatic tunable laser printer, paving the way for precise multi‐material ...

The flower code and cancer development
It has been postulated that the preliminary steps of cancer known as "cancerization field" could be mediated by a competitive mechanism among mutated and wild-type cells. Cell competition is a process of selection among populations of cells with different fitness: the best adapted cells (winners) survive and proliferate in the tissue at the expense of ...
