Flower formation of Chinese cabbage. I. Response to vernalization and photoperiods
Scientia Horticulturae, 1984Abstract The influence of temperature, vernalization duration and photoperiods on the leaf number and beginning of bolting of Chinese cabbage was tested in growth chambers. An increasing effect of vernalization was indicated by decreasing leaf number and premature bolting. Sensitiveness for vernalization started with germination and remained constant

Identification and characterization of flowering repressor-related genes in Chinese cabbage
BioChip Journal, 2012In this study, we used a five-step process to identify those genes most likely involved in flowering repression in the Chinese cabbage (Brassica rapa). We tested 6,275 candidate genes with 300K microarrays, which included specific gene expression profiles of FLOWERING LOCUS C (FLC) mutants and normal cultivars during five cold vernalization stages ...

Characterization of interspecific hybrids between flowering Chinese cabbage and broccoli
Scientia Horticulturae, 2018Abstract sInterspecific hybridization is widely observed within diverse eukaryotic taxa and is considered an important driver of genome evolution. We selected one flowering Chinese cabbage variety and one broccoli variety for hybridization. Heterologous haploid offspring were obtained by embryo rescue, and heterologous diploids were obtained by ...

Transcription factor BrEFM negatively regulates flowering time in Chinese cabbage
Functional & Integrative GenomicsFlowering represents a critical developmental transition in plants. In Chinese cabbage, precise regulation of flowering time is especially vital for optimizing yield and quality. In Chinese cabbage, BrEFM and many genes annotated as flowering-related are specifically expressed in leaf veins.

Abstract In the present study, four Trichoderma species were isolated and made into a biofertilizer. Following treatment with the biofertilizer for 30 days, the germination rate (↑22.5%), height (↑24.4%), fresh weight (↑41.7%), and yield (↑37.4%) of flowering Chinese cabbage increased markedly compared with those of the control.

Inhibition of flowering in Chinese cabbage by applying heat and growth retardants to transplants
Plant Growth Regulation, 1986A procedure was developed to reduce premature bolting and flowering in Chinese cabbage grown in the field during the winter. This involved (a) the use of geothermic water as an inexpensive heat source for heating the transplants in the nursery; (b) application of the growth retardants daminozide (Alar) and paclobutrazol (PP333) to the heated plants ...

Abstract Vernalized Chinese cabbage ( Brassica campestris subsp. pekinensis ) plants were subjected to LD (16 h) obtained by extending the natural day-length with artificial illumination. Time to the beginning of bolting was increased, and flower stem length and flowering intensity were decreased with the reduction in intensity of the supplementary

The Effect of Flower-Inducing Factors on Leaf Tipburn Formation in Chinese Cabbage
Journal of Plant Physiology, 1993Summary The effect of environmental factors known to induce bolting and flowering, on the onset of tipburn in Chinese cabbage plants was studied. Vernalization induced or markedly increased the disorder. Long days (LD) or foliar applications of GA3 following vernalization accentuated the effect of the cold treatment.

Effect of Ammonium and Nitrate Ratios on Growth and Yield of Flowering Chinese Cabbage
2011The effect of different ammonium and nitrate ratios (NH4 + -N : NO3 −-N = 0:100, 25:75, 50:50 and 75:25) on growth and yield of flowering Chinese cabbage (Brassica campestris L. ssp. chinensis var. utilis Tsen et Lee) with 3 cultivars were studied in hydroponics.
