Comparative efficacy of selenoureido carbonic anhydrase inhibitors and azole antifungal drugs against clinical isolates of Malassezia pachydermatis. [PDF]

open access: yesVet Dermatol
Background – Malassezia pachydermatis (MP) is implicated in severe dermatitis and otitis externa (OE) of companion animals and recently gained attention for its increasing resistance to azole compounds. For this reason, developing novel therapeutic strategies is of great interest. In a previous work, we used reference yeast isolates to evaluate several

Situation of anti-fungal resistance of species of the genus Candida in Peru

open access: yesRevista Peruana de Medicina Experimental y Salud Pública, 2018
We are currently witnessing a constant and ongoing change of the epidemiological pictures of yeast resistance to antifungal agents, related to the type of host, etiology of the disease, the microorganism involved, and its mechanisms of resistance.

Repositioning 2‐Mercaptobenzothiazole and Sulfonamides as Antifungals Against Multidrug‐Resistant Candida albicans: In Vitro and In Silico Insights

open access: yesChemistrySelect, Volume 11, Issue 19, 20 May 2026.
This study highlights the antifungal potential of 2‐mercaptobenzothiazole (MBT) and sulfonamides against multidrug‐resistant Candida albicans. In vitro assays and molecular docking with lanosterol 14α‐demethylase (L14αDM) reveal favorable activity and binding, supporting their repositioning as promising antifungal candidates. ABSTRACT Fungal infections
