Fluctuation Theorems for Heat Exchanges between Passive and Active Baths
In addition to providing general constraints on probability distributions, fluctuation theorems allow us to infer essential information on the role played by temperature in heat exchange phenomena.

On fluctuating momentum exchange in idealised models of air–sea interaction [PDF]
The dynamics of three local models, for momentum transfer at the air–sea interface, is compared. The models differ by whether or not the ocean velocity is included in the shear calculation applied to the ocean and the atmosphere.

Uniform monolayer Cr2Ge2Te6 films are achieved on Si substrates by molecular beam epitaxy. Intrinsic ferromagnetism with perpendicular magnetic anisotropy is established in the films by anomalous Hall effect and superconducting quantum interference device measurements, albeit with strong magnetic fluctuations characteristic of its 2D nature.

Introducing one-shot work into fluctuation relations
Two approaches to small-scale and quantum thermodynamics are fluctuation relations and one-shot statistical mechanics. Fluctuation relations (such as Crooks’ theorem and Jarzynski's equality) relate nonequilibrium behaviors to equilibrium quantities such

Nonlinear Non-Equilibrium Thermodynamics Based on the Ehrenfest–Klein Model
Nonlinear non-equilibrium thermodynamic relations have been constructed based on the generalized Ehrenfest−Klein model. Using these relations, the behavior of the entropy and its production in time at arbitrary deviations from equilibrium has been ...

Generalisation of fluctuation-dissipation theorem to systems with absorbing states
Systems that evolve towards a state from which they cannot depart are common in nature. But the fluctuation-dissipation theorem (FDT), a fundamental result in statistical mechanics, is mainly restricted to systems near-stationarity.

On the concept of effective temperature in current carrying quantum critical states
Quantum criticality has attracted considerable attention both theoretically and experimentally as a way to describe part of the phase diagram of strongly correlated systems.

The Fluctuation Theorem and Dissipation Theorem for Poiseuille Flow
The fluctuation theorem and the dissipation theorem provide relationships to describe nonequilibrium systems arbitrarily far from, or close to equilibrium. They both rely on definition of a central property, the dissipation function. In this manuscript we apply these theorems to examine a boundary thermostatted system undergoing Poiseuille flow.

Stacked nanoflake assembly (SNA) membranes can oscillate autonomously, offering opportunities for soft actuation and energy harvesting. This work uncovers the physical mechanism behind the sustained oscillation of SNA membranes in gradient humidity and identifies three governing dimensionless parameters, enabling rational design for optimizing SNA ...
