Knotted solutions, from electromagnetism to fluid dynamics
Knotted solutions to electromagnetism and fluid dynamics are investigated, based on relations we find between the two subjects. We can write fluid dynamics in electromagnetism language, but only on an initial surface, or for linear perturbations, and we ...

Sequence determinants of RNA G‐quadruplex unfolding by Arg‐rich regions
We show that Arg‐rich peptides selectively unfold RNA G‐quadruplexes, but not RNA stem‐loops or DNA/RNA duplexes. This length‐dependent activity is inhibited by acidic residues and is conserved among SR and SR‐related proteins (SRSF1, SRSF3, SRSF9, U1‐70K, and U2AF1).

Diuretic responses to Ringer's solution and 20% albumin at different arterial pressures
Intravenous volume loading is a common treatment when hypovolemia is a potential cause of oliguria. We studied whether the effectiveness of Ringer's solution and 20% albumin in inducing diuresis differs depending on the mean arterial pressure (MAP).

Clinical evaluation of a newly designed fluid warming kit on fluid warming and hypothermia during spinal surgery [PDF]
BackgroundThe Mega Acer Kit® (MAK) is a newly designed heated and humidified breathing circuit that warms fluid passing through the circuit lumen. In this study, we investigated the system's efficacy for the perioperative prevention of hypothermia and ...

Bone metastasis in prostate cancer (PCa) patients is a clinical hurdle due to the poor understanding of the supportive bone microenvironment. Here, we identify stearoyl‐CoA desaturase (SCD) as a tumor‐promoting enzyme and potential therapeutic target in bone metastatic PCa.

The Incompressible Rindler fluid versus the Schwarzschild-AdS fluid
We study the proposal by Bredberg et al. (1006.1902), where the fluid is defined by the Brown-York tensor on a timelike surface at r=r_c in black hole backgrounds. We consider both Rindler space and the Schwarzschild-AdS (SAdS) black hole.

Mixing and transport by ciliary carpets: a numerical study [PDF]
We use a 3D computational model to study the fluid transport and mixing due to the beating of an infinite array of cilia. In accord with recent experiments, we observe two distinct regions: a fluid transport region above the cilia and a fluid mixing ...

We reconstituted Synechocystis glycogen synthesis in vitro from purified enzymes and showed that two GlgA isoenzymes produce glycogen with different architectures: GlgA1 yields denser, highly branched glycogen, whereas GlgA2 synthesizes longer, less‐branched chains.

SIMPLE FLUID IN AN ATTRACTIVE, DISORDERED POLYDISPERSE MATRIX
The extension of the replica Ornstein-Zernike (ROZ) equations is applied to the study of the structural properties of a Lennard-Jones fluid confined in an attractive polydisperse disordered matrix.

We identified a systemic, progressive loss of protein S‐glutathionylation—detected by nonreducing western blotting—alongside dysregulation of glutathione‐cycle enzymes in both neuronal and peripheral tissues of Taiwanese SMA mice. These alterations were partially rescued by SMN antisense oligonucleotide therapy, revealing persistent redox imbalance as ...
