Electrorheological Fluid Dynamics [PDF]

open access: yesPhysical Review Letters, 2008
We use the Onsager principle to derive a two-phase continuum formulation for the hydrodynamics of the electrorheological (ER) fluid, consisting of dielectric microspheres dispersed in an insulating liquid. Predictions of the theory are in excellent agreement with the experiments.

Cerebrospinal fluid dynamics [PDF]

open access: yesCroatian Medical Journal, 2021
The classical cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) circulation theory has been accepted as an established theory of CSF physiology. It describes bulk CSF flow from production site to absorption site. However, much controversy remains regarding the basic CSF physiology and the mechanisms behind the development of hydrocephalus.

Coupled flight dynamics and CFD - demonstration for helicopters in shipborne environment [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
The development of high-performance computing and computational fluid dynamics methods have evolved to the point where it is possible to simulate complete helicopter configurations with good accuracy.

Dynamics of network fluids

open access: yesAdvances in Colloid and Interface Science, 2017
Network fluids are structured fluids consisting of chains and branches. They are characterized by unusual physical properties, such as, exotic bulk phase diagrams, interfacial roughening and wetting transitions, and equilibrium and nonequilibrium gels. Here, we provide an overview of a selection of their equilibrium and dynamical properties.

Synthesis of CoxZn1-x zeolitic imidazolate frameworks (ZIFs) as efficient photocatalyst with high stability

open access: yesCatalysis Communications, 2023
Sodalite-topology zeolitic imidazolate framework-8 (ZIF-8) composed of Zn2+ ions and organic linkers exhibit excellent physical and chemical properties such as high porosity, large surface area and abundant active sites.

Fluid Dynamics of Respiratory Infectious Diseases.

open access: yesAnnual Review of Biomedical Engineering, 2021
The host-to-host transmission of respiratory infectious diseases is fundamentally enabled by the interaction of pathogens with a variety of fluids (gas or liquid) that shape pathogen encapsulation and emission, transport and persistence in the ...

Isomorphic classical molecular dynamics model for an excess electron in a supercritical fluid [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
Ring polymer molecular dynamics (RPMD) is used to directly simulate the dynamics of an excess electron in a supercritical fluid over a broad range of densities.

Seasonal predictability of baroclinic wave activity

open access: yesnpj Climate and Atmospheric Science, 2021
Midlatitude baroclinic waves drive extratropical weather and climate variations, but their predictability beyond 2 weeks has been deemed low. Here we analyze a large ensemble of climate simulations forced by observed sea surface temperatures (SSTs) and ...

Corrections to Fluid Dynamics [PDF]

open access: yesOpen Systems & Information Dynamics, 2003
We show that a Galilean invariant version of fluid dynamics can be derived by the methods of statistical dynamics using Maxwell's balance equations. The basic equation is non-local, and might replace the Boltzmann equation if the latter turns out not to have global smooth solutions in general.

Causal Relativistic Fluid Dynamics

open access: yes, 2011
We derive causal relativistic fluid dynamical equations from the relaxation model of kinetic theory as in a procedure previously applied in the case of non-relativistic rarefied gases.
