THERMO-MECHANICAL COUPLING BETWEEN THE FLOW OF STEAM AND DEFORMATION OF THE VALVE DURING START-UP OF THE 200MW TURBINE

open access: yesTASK Quarterly, 2001
The lifetime estimation of power station structures and components, subjected to fatigue loading, is essential for determining the moment of repair or replacement. Therefore the degradation behaviour and damage development within material should be very

Stationary and non-stationary fluid flow of a Bose-Einstein condensate through a penetrable barrier [PDF]

open access: yes, 2007
We experimentally study the fluid flow induced by a broad, penetrable barrier moving through an elongated dilute gaseous Bose-Einstein condensate. The barrier is created by a laser beam swept through the condensate, and the resulting dipole potential can

Hyperosmotic stress induces PARP1‐mediated HPF1‐dependent mono(ADP‐ribosyl)ation

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Sorbitol‐induced hyperosmotic stress rapidly induces reversible mono(ADP‐ribosyl)ation (MARylation) on PARP1 without the signs of genotoxic signaling. We show that PARP1 autoMARylation is HPF1 dependent and forms hydroxylamine‐resistant O‐glycosidic linkages.

Three-dimensional flow of Newtonian and Boger fluids in square-square contractions [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
The flow of a Newtonian fluid and a Boger fluid through sudden square–square contractions was investigated experimentally aiming to characterize the flow and provide quantitative data for benchmarking in a complex three-dimensional flow.

Linking neurogenesis, oligodendrogenesis, and myelination defects to neurodevelopmental disruption in primary mitochondrial disorders

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Mitochondrial remodeling shapes neural and glial lineage progression by matching metabolic supply with demand. Elevated OXPHOS supports differentiation and myelin formation, while myelin compaction lowers mitochondrial dependence, revealing mitochondria as key drivers of developmental energy adaptation.

PROPOSAL OF MODERNISATION OF A STEAM TURBINE STAGE BEFORE EXTRACTION, CFD AND CSD ANALYSIS

open access: yesTASK Quarterly, 2002
The paper presents an idea and analysis of application of a new solution of a stage before extraction in the modernised LP part of 200MW turbines with ND37 exhaust.

AAA+ protein unfoldases—the Moirai of the proteome

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
AAA+ unfoldases are essential molecular motors that power protein degradation and disaggregation. This review integrates recent cryo‐electron microscopy (cryo‐EM) structures and single‐molecule biophysical data to reconcile competing models of substrate translocation.

Longitudinal and transversal flow over a cavity containing a second immiscible fluid

open access: yes, 2012
An analytical solution for the flow field of a shear flow over a rectangular cavity containing a second immiscible fluid is derived. While flow of a single-phase fluid over a cavity is a standard case investigated in fluid dynamics, flow over a cavity ...

pH‐mediated activation of the lysosomal arginine sensor SLC38A9

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Cells monitor nutrient levels via the lysosomal transporter SLC38A9 to activate the mechanistic target of rapamycin complex 1 (mTORC1). This study reveals that SLC38A9 function is regulated by pH. We identified histidine 544 as a critical pH sensor that undergoes conformational changes to control amino acid efflux from lysosomes; therefore, it ...

Development of a computational framework for low-Reynolds number propeller aeroacoustics

open access: yesArchives of Mechanics
The paper focuses on the development and validation of a new computational framework designed for the prediction of tonal and broadband noise radiation of propellers of unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) operating in the low-Reynolds number regime.
