Electron Transfer Dissociation and Synchrotron UV Photodissociation of Trapped Sodiated Ions Produced From Polyacrylates by Electrospray Ionization

open access: yesRapid Communications in Mass Spectrometry, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Rationale Poly (acrylates)s can be distinguished from one another by the nature of their side chains. From model poly (acrylates)s, the purpose of this work was to evaluate the contribution of alternative activation techniques to the collisional activation, based on ion–ion and ion–photon interactions.

Phenyl-cyclopentadienyl rule

open access: yesMacedonian Journal of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering, 2012
Within a systematic study of cyclic conjugation in the benzo-annelated derivatives of acenaphthylene and fluoranthene, a general regularity was discovered, named phenyl-cyclopentadienyl rule (PCP rule).

Metabolism of fluoranthene by mycobacterial strains isolated by their ability to grow in fluoranthene or pyrene

open access: yesJournal of Industrial Microbiology & Biotechnology, 2005
Mycobacterium sp. strains CP1, CP2, CFt2 and CFt6 were isolated from creosote-contaminated soil due to their ability to grow in pyrene (CP1 and CP2) or fluoranthene (CFt2 and CFt6). All these strains utilized fluoranthene as a sole source of carbon and energy.

Organic and Inorganic Pollutants, Oxidative Stress Biomarkers, and Electrophoretic Protein Profiles in an Endangered Thresher Shark (Alopias vulpinus) From Southeastern Brazil: A Case Study

open access: yesEnvironmental Toxicology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT A comprehensive screening of different environmental contaminants (total metals, thermostable metal fractions associated with detoxification, and persistent organic pollutants) was conducted in an endangered common thresher shark (Alopias vulpinus ) individual incidentally captured in southeastern Brazil.

Pressure Response of Crystalline Fluoranthene Probed by Raman Spectroscopy

open access: yesCrystals
The pressure response and structural stability of fluoranthene crystals up to 8 GPa are investigated using Raman spectroscopy. The vast majority of the Raman peaks upshift with pressure, either sublinearly (intermolecular modes) or quasilinearly ...

Assessing the Health Impacts of Contaminants on Green Turtles (Chelonia mydas) Along the Southern Coast of Brazil

open access: yesEnvironmental Toxicology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Chemical pollutants pose a significant threat to marine ecosystems. Among these contaminants are trace elements and polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAH). Green turtles can be employed to evaluate the oceans' health due to their coastal habitats and exposure to multiple threats.

Fluoranthene based fluorescent chemosensors for detection of explosive nitroaromatics

open access: yes, 2012
A novel fluoranthene based fluorescent chemosensor for the detection of picric acid (PA) at the parts per billion (ppb) level was evaluated. Static fluorescence quenching was the dominant process by intercalative pi-pi interaction between fluoranthene (S-

Fluoranthene Based Derivatives for Detection of Trace Explosive Nitroaromatics

open access: yes, 2016
A series of fluoranthene derivatives (F1–F5) varied with nature and type of substituents were synthesized via Diels–Alder reaction followed by in situ decarbonylation.

Non-Genotoxic and Environmentally Relevant Lower Molecular Weight Polycyclic Aromatic Hydrocarbons Significantly Increase Tumorigenicity of Benzo[a]pyrene in a Lung Two-Stage Mouse Model

open access: yesToxics
The World Health Organization has classified air pollution as a carcinogen, and polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) are major components of air particulates of carcinogenic concern.
