Tuning catalytic activity and sensitivity in urease‐based thin film biosensors using conjugated polymers and eugenol/biseugenol

open access: yesPolymer International, EarlyView.
Hybrid thin films of conjugated polymers and urease modified with eugenol derivatives show that polymer–biomolecule interactions enhance catalytic activity while distinctly modulating electrolyte–insulator–semiconductor sensor sensitivity. Abstract Thin films have emerged as promising platforms for biosensor development due to their versatility and ...

Poly(styrene)/oligo(fluorene)-intercalated fluoromica hybrids: synthesis, characterization and self-assembly

open access: yesBeilstein Journal of Nanotechnology, 2014
We report on the intercalation of a cationic fluorescent oligo(fluorene) in between the 2D interlayer region of a fluoromica type silicate. The formation of intercalated structures with different fluorophore contents is observed in powders by synchrotron

Functional polymer materials containing heavy group‐14 elements focusing on germanium and tin

open access: yesSmart Molecules, EarlyView.
The synthesis, functions, and applications of the polymers containing heavy group 14 elements focusing on germanium and tin are outlined. Owing to their large atomic radii and weak binding energies, the polymers show unique properties: chromism, luminescence, carrier mobility, and reactivity to produce radials and higher coordinated states.

Mechanofluorochromism (MFC) of Donor–π–Acceptor (D–π–A)‐Type Fluorescent Dyes

open access: yesThe Chemical Record, EarlyView.
Mechanofluorochromism (MFC) is a photophysical phenomenon that induces changes in fluorescent colors as well as colors of organic fluorescent dyes in the solid‐state by external mechanical stimuli. In this Personal Account, we offer an insight into the mechanism for the expression of MFC and present a direction in the molecular design toward creating D–

Organic and Inorganic Pollutants, Oxidative Stress Biomarkers, and Electrophoretic Protein Profiles in an Endangered Thresher Shark (Alopias vulpinus) From Southeastern Brazil: A Case Study

open access: yesEnvironmental Toxicology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT A comprehensive screening of different environmental contaminants (total metals, thermostable metal fractions associated with detoxification, and persistent organic pollutants) was conducted in an endangered common thresher shark (Alopias vulpinus ) individual incidentally captured in southeastern Brazil.

Facilitated Transport of Organic Contaminants in a High Concentration, Multicomponent Plume

open access: yesGroundwater Monitoring &Remediation, EarlyView.
Abstract A field experiment evaluated the transport of organic contaminants in a plume from hazardous waste disposal areas at the Rocky Mountain Arsenal. The plume contained many xenobiotic contaminants, with widely varying expected mobilities.
