Novel phthalocyanines activated by dim light for mosquito larva- and cell-inactivation with inference for their potential as broad-spectrum photodynamic insecticides.

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2019
Mosquitoes are significant vectors, responsible for transmitting serious infectious diseases, including the recent epidemics of global significance caused by, for example, Zika, Dengue and Chikungunya viruses.

Determination of fluorescein and fluorescein monoglucuronide excreted in urine.

open access: yesChemical and Pharmaceutical Bulletin, 1980
A simple method for the fluorometric determination of fluorescein and fluorescein monoglucuronide in urine was developed. Free fluorescein was determined by measuring its native fluorescence at 494 nm excitation and 516 nm emission. The conjugate was determined as fluorescein after hydrolysis at 37°for 20 min with β-glucuronidase.

Bioorthogonal Swarming: In Situ Generation of Dendrimers [PDF]

open access: yes, 2020
With the aid of bioorthogonal chemistry, we demonstrate the fabrication of synthetic dendrimers in situ around living cells. Using tetrazine dienophile and aminooxyl/hydrazide aldehyde chemistries, the density of functional groups on the dendrimers ...

Thermal Conductivity of Crumb Rubber as Partial Sand Replacement and Recycled Aggregates as Partial Coarse Aggregate Replacement in Concrete [PDF]

open access: yes, 2020
Disposal of waste tire rubber has become a major environmental issue worldwide and is increasing day by day, especially in Malaysia where carbon emission is among the highest in the world.

Human α2-macroglobulin structure Location of Cys-949 residues within a half-molecule measured by fluorescence energy transfer [PDF]

open access: yes, 1993
To localize the pair of thiol-ester-derived cysteine-949 residues within a half-molecule of α2M and estimate the internal diameter of this α2-macroglobulin trap, we have measured the separation between these cysteines.

Bifunctionalised long-wavelength fluorescent probes for biological applications [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
The synthesis of benzo[a]phenoxazinium chlorides which are bifunctionalised in position 2 with 4-ethoxy-4-oxobutoxyl, 3-hydroxypropoxyl or 3-chloropropoxyl groups, and in position 9 with the (aminopropyl)amino group, was efficiently performed.

Anaphylaxis with convulsions following intravenous fluorescein angiography at an outpatient clinic [PDF]

open access: yesEinstein (São Paulo), 2012
Fluorescein is associated with minor adverse effects during retinalangiography, and most of these effects are not severe and notrelated to immunological mechanism.

Protective roles of ascorbic acid in oxidative stress induced by depletion of superoxide dismutase in vertebrate cells. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
Superoxide dismutases (SODs) are antioxidant proteins that convert superoxide to hydrogen peroxide. In vertebrate cells, SOD1 is mainly present in the cytoplasm, with small levels also found in the nucleus and mitochondrial intermembrane space, and SOD2 ...
