Fluorescent Probes of Biological Membranes [PDF]
Fluorescent and phosphorescent probes that have readily interpretable emission properties can be specifically inserted into biological macromolecules to reveal facets of their structure and dynamics: (1) Proximity . Singlet-singlet and triplet-singlet energy transfer can serve as spectroscopic rulers in the 10-65 Å ...

A Colorimetric Fluorescent Probe for SO2 Derivatives-Bisulfite and Sulfite at Nanomolar Level
A colorimetric fluorescent probe with fluorescence emission feature sensitive to SO2 derivatives, i.e. bisulfite (HSO3 (-)) and sulfite (SO3 (2-)), was developed based on the HSO3 (-)/SO3 (2-)-mediated nucleophilic addition reaction of the probe that ...

Biomolecular condensates formed by fused in sarcoma (FUS) are dissolved by high ATP concentrations yet persist in cells. Using a reconstituted system, we demonstrate that valosin‐containing protein (VCP), an AAA+ ATPase, counteracts ATP‐driven dissolution of FUS condensates through its D2 ATPase activity.

A Near-Infrared Ratiometric Fluorescent Probe for Detecting Endogenous Cu2+ in the Brain
Copper participates in a range of critical functions in the nervous system in the human brain. Disturbances in brain copper content is strongly associated with neurological disease.

Hyperosmotic stress induces PARP1‐mediated HPF1‐dependent mono(ADP‐ribosyl)ation
Sorbitol‐induced hyperosmotic stress rapidly induces reversible mono(ADP‐ribosyl)ation (MARylation) on PARP1 without the signs of genotoxic signaling. We show that PARP1 autoMARylation is HPF1 dependent and forms hydroxylamine‐resistant O‐glycosidic linkages.

A novel cassette method for probe evaluation in the designed biochips [PDF]
A critical step in biochip design is the selection of probes with identical hybridisation characteristics. In this article we describe a novel method for evaluating DNA hybridisation probes, allowing the fine-tuning of biochips, that uses cassettes with ...

An isoform of 14‐3‐3 protein regulates transbilayer lipid movement at the plasma membrane
Loss of 14‐3‐3ζ in CHO cells confers resistance to exogenous phosphatidylserine (PS) and impairs endocytosis‐independent inward flip‐flop of fluorescent PS at the plasma membrane. RNAi‐mediated knockdown reproduces this defect, while no additive effect is seen in ATP11C‐deficient cells.

The ubiquitin ligase RNF115 is required for the clearance of damaged lysosomes
Upon lysosomal rupture, an E3 ubiquitin ligase RNF115 translocates from the cytosol to the damaged lysosomal membrane. Moreover, RNF115 depletion impairs the clearance of damaged lysosomes, identifying it as a key regulator of lysosomal quality control.

A Fluorescent Probe for Diacetyl Detection [PDF]
A water-soluble fluorescent probe, rhodamine B hydrazide (RBH), was prepared and its properties for recognition of diacetyl were studied. The method employs the reaction of diacetyl with RBH, a colorless and non-fluorescent rhodamine B spiro form derivative to give a pink-colored fluorescent substance.
