This review focuses on operando studies of battery materials by X‐ray diffraction (XRD) and total X‐ray scattering (TXS). This work highlights potential pitfalls and identify best‐practices for operando studies and reviews some unusual experiments to illustrate how these methods can be applied beyond the evaluation of the early‐stage cycling mechanisms

Metals plated on fluorocarbon polymers [PDF]
Electroplating lead on fluorocarbon polymer parts is accomplished by etching the parts to be plated with sodium, followed by successive depositions of silver and lead from ultrasonically agitated plating solutions.

The correlation between the structures of metal complexes immobilized in the mesopores of hydrophobically modified silicate supports was examined in relation to the catalytic activities toward C‐H oxidation. On the alkene oxidation with H2O2, the iron catalyst bearing bis(imidazolyl)methane ligand promotes allylic oxidation, whereas the mononuclear ...

Critical conditions for the wetting of soils [PDF]
The wettability of soil is of great importance for plants and soil biota and in determining whether flooding and soil erosion will occur. The analysis used in common measurements of soil hydrophobicity makes the assumption that water always enters soils ...

Field trial comparing two materials for marine oil sheen sampling
The California Department of Fish and Wildlife (CDFW) uses fiberglass material for forensic analysis of oil sheens, while the United States Coast Guard (USCG) method uses a tetrafluoroetheylene-fluorocarbon (TFE-fluorocarbon) polymer net.

Tall fescue produces more biomass and less carbon dioxide from the soil when it contains its beneficial fungal endophyte. Increased temperatures projected with climate change reduce fescue biomass, while altered rainfall frequency does not. Altering rainfall frequency and increasing temperatures can reduce carbon dioxide emissions from soil.

Recent advances in organic broad‐spectrum photodetection materials and devices
Graphical Abstract This review systematically outlines the evolution of organic photodetectors from fullerene‐based to advanced non‐fullerene acceptors, highlighting how molecular engineering (e.g., D–A, quinoidal, and A‐D‐A′‐D‐A architectures) extends spectral response into the short‐wave infrared region.
