Thermodynamics of micellization of fluorocarbon surfactants
Journal of Colloid and Interface Science, 1980Abstract The free energy, enthalpy, and entropy of micellization of fluorocarbon surfactants were determined from the surface tension-log concentration curves at various temperatures. Plots of the logarithm of the critical micelle concentration versus 1/ T (where T is the absolute temperature) were not linear, indicating a decrease of enthalpy of ...

Incorporation of Fluorocarbon in Fluorinated Surfactant Based Liquid Crystals
Langmuir, 2003The solubilization of a fluorocarbon oil in a nonionic fluorinated surfactant/water system is investigated by small-angle X-ray scattering to understand its role in the phase transitions between li...

Self-assembly in fluorocarbon surfactant systems
Current Opinion in Colloid & Interface Science, 1998Significant advances have been attained in the characterization of microstructure and microstructural transitions of surfactant aggregates in terms of shape, dimension, and connectivity, in both micellar and liquid crystalline phases and microemulsion systems.

Fluorocarbon–hydrocarbon gemini surfactant mixtures in aqueous solution
Colloids and Surfaces A: Physicochemical and Engineering Aspects, 2009Abstract The aqueous solution properties of oppositely charged gemini–gemini surfactant mixtures have been studied with a combination of static surface tension, dynamic light scattering (DLS) and cryogenic transmission electron microscope (cryo-TEM) measurements.

Mixed insoluble monolayers of fluorocarbon and hydrocarbon surfactants
Journal of Colloid and Interface Science, 1991Abstract The mixed insoluble monolayers of the fluorocarbon surfactants (FSAa) and hydrocarbon surfactants (HSAa) with similar molecular structure (including FSAa-FSAa, HSAa-HSAa, and FSAa-HSAa mixed systems) have been studied. All of them seem ideal, i.e., the π-A curves obey the simple additivity rule.

Solubilization of pada in Hydrocarbon Fluorocarbon Surfactant Mixtures
Australian Journal of Chemistry, 1992Solubilities of pyridine-2-azo- p -dimethylaniline ( pada ) were determined at 25ºC in four mixed fluorocarbon/hydrocarbon short-chained surfactant systems: ( i ) sodium decyl sulfate/sodium perfluoroheptanoate; (ii) sodium octanesulfonate /sodium perfluorooctanoate ; (iii) sodium octanesulfonate /sodium perfluoroheptanoate ; (iv) sodium ...

Interfacial Properties of Aqueous Nonionic Fluorocarbon Surfactant Solutions
Journal of Dispersion Science and Technology, 2007The equilibrium, dynamic surface tensions, and surface dilatational elasticity of aqueous solutions of nonionic fluorocarbon surfactant are reported. The critical micellar concentration, CMC (0.023 mM) and equilibrium surface tension (24.6 m N . m−1) at CMC were measured by Wilhelmy plate method for aqueous solution of C8F17SO2N(C3H7)(C2H4O)nH (n=20 ...

Hybrid surfactants containing separate hydrocarbon and fluorocarbon chains
The Journal of Physical Chemistry, 1992This paper discusses how two hybrid surfactants with separate hydro- and fluorocarbon chains attached to the same hydrophilic head group are synthesized and those micellar solutions are analyzed by several methods. Using Kleven`s equation, micellar aggregation number decreases with increasing chain length.
