Solution properties of mixed fluorocarbon—hydrocarbon surfactant systems
Colloids and Surfaces, 1992Solution properties or mixed fluorocarbon—hydrocarbon surfactant systems have been investigated with dynamic and static light scattering and with fluorescence-probe measurements. The systems are mixtures of hexadecylpolyoxyethylene ether (C16POE20) with ammonium perfluorooctanoate (APFO) and/or with ammonium perfluorodecanoate (APFDe).

Syntheses of novel fluorocarbon surfactants with oxyethylene groups
Journal of Fluorine Chemistry, 1998Abstract Three anionic fluorocarbon surfactants with oxyethylene groups, sodium bis[2-{2-(perfluoroalkyl)ethoxy}ethyl] 2-sulfosuccinate C n F 2 n +1 -CH 2 CH 2 OCH 2 CH 2 OCOCH 2 CH(SO 3 Na)COOCH 2 CH 2 OCH 2 CH 2 C n F 2 n +1 ( n FEOS; n = 4, 6, or 8), were prepared from ethylene carbonate, maleic anhydride, corresponding alcohols having a ...

Micellar Solution Properties of Fluorocarbon−Hydrocarbon Hybrid Surfactants
Langmuir, 1996Solution properties of sodium 1-oxo-1-[(4-fluoroalkyl)phenyl]-2-alkanesulfonates, hybrid surfactants containing a fluorocarbon chain and a hydrocarbon chain in the molecule, have been measured in terms of Krafft point, surface tension, n-octane/water and water/perfluoro-n-hexane interfacial tension, and aggregation number of micelles. The Krafft point,

Giant Brainlike Aggregates from New Fluorocarbon/Hydrocarbon Hybrid Cationic Surfactants
Langmuir, 2011A rapid synthetic procedure in two steps from perfluoroalkylethyl iodide derivatives led to 18 novel ammonium type hybrid surfactants of the general formula: R(F)(CH(2))(2)S(CH(2))(2)N(+)(CH(3))(2)R(H)Br(-) (R(F) = C(4)F(9), C(6)F(13), C(8)F(17); R(H) = C(4)H(9), C(6)H(13), C(8)H(17), C(10)H(21), C(12)H(25), C(14)H(29)).

The synthesis, phase behavior, and mixing properties of cationic dimeric (gemini) surfactants having one or two perfluoroalkyl chains is described and compared to that of analogue hydrocarbon surfactants. The combination of the dimeric character of the amphiphiles with the high hydrophobicity of the fluorocarbon chains leads to very low critical ...
