Ultrafast Photocatalytic Wettability Switching in Substrate‐Interface Tailored Titanium Dioxide Thin Films

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Interfaces, EarlyView.
This study demonstrates ultrafast photocatalytic wettability switching in TiO2 thin films by tailoring substrate doping and interface oxides. Enhanced switching rates and hemiwicking effects are achieved through optimized material stacks and nanostructuring.

Official health communications are failing PFAS-contaminated communities

open access: yesEnvironmental Health, 2022
Background Environmental health agencies are critical sources of information for communities affected by chemical contamination. Impacted residents and their healthcare providers often turn to federal and state agency webpages, fact sheets, and other ...

Growth‐Like Swelling of 2D Precursors for Efficient Fabrication of Complex 3D Microstructures

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
The growth‐like swelling process fills photocured polymers into the elastomeric microstructures, inducing a significant swelling deformation of microstructures that can be maintained in the absence of solvents. The growth‐like swelling process breaks through the dependence of swelling deformation on the solvents, thereby expanding the application of 3D

Fluorocarbons [PDF]

open access: yesAnaesthesia, 1987
Summary This article presents information on medical applications of fluorocarbons. These inert chemicals have a high solubility for the respiratory gases and, in emulsified form, are present in the oxygen‐transporting plasma substitutes now undergoing clinical trials.

Smart Energy–Harvesting Coating for Moisture–Droplets Based on Ionic Diodes and Transistor–Like Structures

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A smart power‐generating coating is developed to harvest energy from both ambient humidity and impacting liquid droplets. The integrated system delivers sustained open‐circuit voltages of 0.85 V from moisture and up to 36 V from droplets. Its scalable coating architecture enables a continuous power supply for low‐power electronic devices.

Superconductivity in WO2.6F0.4 synthesized by reaction of WO3 with Teflon

open access: yes, 2011
WO3-xFx (x < 0.45) perovskite-like oxyfluorides were prepared by a chemically reducing fluorination route using the polymer polytetrafluoroethylene (Teflon). The symmetry of the crystal structures of WO3-xFx changes from monoclinic to tetragonal to cubic

Regulating Solvent‐Separated Ion Pairs to Control Polysulfide Redox for Fast and Stable Room‐Temperature Na‐S Batteries

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A local high‐concentration electrolyte with tailored solvent‐separated ion pairs is pioneered to design for room‐temperature sodium‐sulfur batteries. This electrolyte allows sparingly dissolved polysulfides and localizes them onto reactive interfaces for liquid‐solid conversion.

Self‐Healing Starch‐Based Ionogels with Hydroneutral Dipole–Dipole Interactions

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This work introduces starch‐based, conductive, underwater‐healable, and transparent ionogels for soft electronics (SCUTEs). Starch macromolecules are partially substituted with cyanoethyl groups and incorporated with hydrophobic ionic liquid. The polar yet hydroneutral cyanoethyl groups facilitate strong dynamic dipole–dipole interactions that remain ...

ML Workflows for Screening Degradation‐Relevant Properties of Forever Chemicals

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
The environmental persistence of per‐ and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) necessitates efficient remediation strategies. This study presents physics‐informed machine learning workflows that accurately predict critical degradation properties, including bond dissociation energies and polarizability.
