State-dependent inhibition of GABA receptor channels by the ectoparasiticide fluralaner
Pesticide Biochemistry and Physiology, 2022γ-Aminobutyric acid (GABA) receptors (GABARs) are ligand-gated Cl- channels, which cause an influx of Cl- that inhibits excitation in postsynaptic cells upon activation. GABARs are important targets for drugs and pest control chemicals. We previously reported that the isoxazoline ectoparasiticide fluralaner inhibits GABA-induced currents in housefly ...

Efficacy of fluralaner in 17 dogs with sarcoptic mange
Veterinary Dermatology, 2016BackgroundThere are few licensed options for the treatment of canine sarcoptic mange.ObjectiveTo evaluate the efficacy of fluralaner in dogs with sarcoptic mange infestation.AnimalsSeventeen dogs with a diagnosis of Sarcoptes scabiei based on positive skin scrapings.MethodsA single dose of oral fluralaner was administered according to the manufacturer ...

Absolute configuration assignment of (+)‐fluralaner using vibrational circular dichroism
Chirality, 2017AbstractThe absolute configurations of the separated enantiomers of fluralaner, a racemic animal health product used to prevent fleas and ticks, have been assigned using vibrational circular dichroism (VCD). The crystallographic structure of the active enantiomer (+)‐fluralaner has previously been shown to have the (S) configuration using small ...

Enantioselective Detection, Bioactivity, and Metabolism of the Novel Chiral Insecticide Fluralaner
Journal of Agricultural and Food Chemistry, 2020Fluralaner, a veterinary drug, is a potential chiral isoxazoline insecticide possessing high insecticidal and acaricidal activity. However, there is little information regarding the enantioselective effect of fluralaner. In this work, a promising chiral detection method was established with liquid chromatography-mass spectrometry in agricultural ...

Theoretical and Experimental Study of Molecular Interactions of Fluralaner with Lipid Membranes
Journal of Agricultural and Food Chemistry, 2023Fluralaner is a relatively new insecticide belonging to the isoxazoline group, whose action mechanism involves the blocking of GABAA-receptors in the insect nervous system. Because of its high hydrophobicity, fluralaner could bioaccumulate and reach toxic local concentrations.

Treatment of crusted sarcoptic mange with fluralaner in a dog
Veterinary Record Case Reports, 2021Abstract A 4‐year‐old neutered male Lakeland terrier was presented for evaluation of allergies and onset of new crusting skin lesions. The face, dorsum, limbs and paws were diffusely covered in crusts and adherent scaling. The dog was mildly to moderately pruritic.

Insecticidal spectrum of fluralaner to agricultural and sanitary pests
Journal of Asia-Pacific Entomology, 2017Abstract Fluralaner, as an isoxazoline insecticide, has been developed as antiparasitic (namely Bravecto®) with selective toxicity for insect versus mammals. Even though the toxic effect of fluralaner to several insects have been already examined, but also more agricultural and sanitary insects should be tested before it could be used widely.

Toxicity and sublethal effects of fluralaner on Spodoptera litura Fabricius (Lepidoptera: Noctuidae)
Pesticide Biochemistry and Physiology, 2018The increasing occurrence of resistance to chemical insecticides in insect pest populations is a serious threat to the integrity of current pest management strategies, and exploring new alternative chemistries is one important way to overcome this obstacle. Fluralaner, as a novel isoxazoline insecticide, has broad spectrum activity against a variety of

Putative pemphigus‐like reaction to oral fluralaner in a dog
Veterinary DermatologyAbstractA 9‐month‐old mixed‐breed dog developed generalised pustular dermatitis, accompanied by lethargy and hyperthermia, 7 days after oral fluralaner administration. Dermatopathological and microbiological evaluations were consistent with a pustular acantholytic dermatitis.

Fluralaner is a novel isoxazoline insecticide which shows high insecticidal activity against parasitic, sanitary and agricultural pests, but there is little information about the effect of fluralaner on non-target organisms. This study reports the acute toxicity, bioconcentration, elimination and antioxidant response of fluralaner in zebrafish.
