Spin Foams [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
The spin foam framework provides a way to define the dynamics of canonical loop quantum gravity in a spacetime covariant way, by using a path integral over histories of quantum states which can be interpreted as `quantum space-times'. This chapter provides a basic introduction to spin foams aimed principally at beginning graduate students and, where ...

4-dimensional Spin-foam Model with Quantum Lorentz Group

open access: yes, 2011
We study the quantum group deformation of the Lorentzian EPRL spin-foam model. The construction uses the harmonic analysis on the quantum Lorentz group.

Operator Spin Foam Models [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
The goal of this paper is to introduce a systematic approach to spin foams. We define operator spin foams, that is foams labelled by group representations and operators, as the main tool.

Foam - rediscovered drug form [PDF]

open access: yesFarmacja Polska, 2020
Foam is a multiphase system consisting mainly of gas dispersed in a liquid or solid. The continuous phase creates a very large surface with a small thickness, which is very thermodynamically unfavorable, and thus causes high instability of the system ...

Foam used during EPB tunnelling in saturated sand, parameters determining foam consumption [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
The amount of foam injected during drilling with an EPB-shield in saturated sand is quite often based on experience and/or empiric relations. A method is presented in to calculate the amount of foam needed to create a muck with limited or no grain stress.

Influence of orientation and radiative heat transfer on aluminum foams in Buoyancy-induced convection [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
Two differently-produced open-cell aluminum foams were compared to a commercially available finned heat sink. Further, an aluminum plate and block were tested as a reference. All heat sinks have the same base plate dimensions of four by six inches.

Feasibility and Tolerability of Performing Portable MRI for Neurological Disorders in an Outpatient Neurology Clinic: A Prospective Cohort

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background Accessing brain magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) can be challenging, especially for underserved patients, which may lead to disparities in neurological diagnosis. Method This mixed‐methods study enrolled adults with one of four neurological disorders: mild cognitive impairment or dementia of the Alzheimer type, multiple sclerosis ...

A Novel Resorbable Composite Material Containing Poly(ester-co-urethane) and Precipitated Calcium Carbonate Spherulites for Bone Augmentation—Development and Preclinical Pilot Trials

open access: yesMolecules, 2020
Polyurethanes have the potential to impart cell-relevant properties like excellent biocompatibility, high and interconnecting porosity and controlled degradability into biomaterials in a relatively simple way.

Temperature Influence on Fermentation Speed and Organoleptic Beer Properties.

open access: yesKvasný průmysl, 2004
The objective of this work was to study temperature changes during the process of primary and secondary fermentation and their effect on fermentation speed, foam stability and organoleptic properties of beer.

Emergence of foams from the breakdown of the phase field crystal model

open access: yes, 2010
The phase field crystal (PFC) model captures the elastic and topological properties of crystals with a single scalar field at small undercooling. At large undercooling, new foam-like behavior emerges.
