Hybrid foam flooding

Journal of Petroleum Science and Engineering, 1993
Abstract A new enhanced oil recovery process called the hybrid foam flood is described. It is a secondary or a tertiary oil recovery process involving the injection of a miscible solvent in two stages. Initially, the original solvent is injected and is intentionally allowed to channel towards the producer to take advantage of the early breakthrough ...

Assessment of Foam Properties and Effectiveness in Mobility Reduction for CO2-Foam Floods

Proceedings of International Symposium on Oilfield Chemistry, 1997
Abstract Foam properties in porous media and in the bulk phase were evaluated for possible correlation by using two laboratory assessment methods. The foaming ability of surfactant with dense Carbon Dioxide (CO2) and durability of foam in the bulk phase were first tested in a device designed to select surfactants ...

Properties of Surfactant Solution for Foam-Flooding

2019
The chemical flooding in Daqing Oilfield has entered the following water flooding stage, and about more than 50% of the crude oil remains in the reservoir. In order to maintain the sustainable and effective development of oilfield, the formulation of chemical flooding system suitable for after chemical flooding is studied.

The Feasibility Studies of Polymer Foam Flooding in Gudao Oilfield

SPE Asia Pacific Oil & Gas Conference and Exhibition, 2006
Abstract Gudao oil field is one of the major production areas in Shengli Field. After 20-year development, most of reservoirs are characterized by high water cut, poor sweep efficiency and inefficient oil recovery due to the high heterogeneity.

Flooding in a Vertically Rising Gas–Liquid Foam

Industrial & Engineering Chemistry Research, 2014
The maximum liquid fraction that stable pneumatic foam can support is studied in this paper in order to illuminate change of flow regime from turbulent foam flow to the “emulsion regime” in which the distinct interface between the foam layer and the bubbly liquid is lost; this regime transition is nominated as “flooding”.

Nanoparticle-Stabilized CO2 Foam Flooding

2019
The efficacy of several nanoparticles [silica (Si), nanoclays, fly ash and iron oxide (IO)] in stabilizing CO2 foam is studied via flow experiments in a microfluidic device. The resulting foam is characterized using modified bulk foam tests. Size and uniformity of nanoparticle (NP) dispersions are quantified using dynamic light scattering.

Studies On Nitrogen Foam Flooding For Conglomerate Reservoir

SPE EOR Conference at Oil and Gas West Asia, 2012
Abstract Keshang formation in Karamay oil field belongs to typical conglomerate reservoirs. It is characterized by high water cut, poor sweep efficiency, high heterogeneity and inefficient oil recovery during the end-period of water flooding. The selection of EOR technique is very important for future development of such reservoirs. Foam

Foam Flooding in a Heterogeneous Porous Medium

2019
The impact of heterogeneity on the flow behavior of CO2 foam in the presence of crude oil is investigated in a complex, heterogeneous porous medium. A microfluidic device is fabricated featuring low and high permeability regions using a sequential photolithography technique.

Foam Displacement Modeling in CO2 Flooding Processes

Proceedings of SPE/DOE Improved Oil Recovery Symposium, 1996
Abstract A foam model based on the foam resistance factor has been developed and has been incorporated into two reservoir simulators. The first is a pseudo-miscible simulator, MASTER, obtained from the Department of Energy, and the second is an equation-of-state, compositional simulator, UTCOMP, obtained from the University of Texas at ...
