Core flood evaluation of hydrocarbon solvent foams

Journal of Petroleum Science and Engineering, 1996
Abstract The possibility of using foams to reduce solvent mobility in hydrocarbon miscible flooding is investigated. The performance of nitrogen foams in oil-free Berea Sandstone cores is compared to the performance of foams generated with four light hydrocarbons (methane, ethane, propane and n-butane), using two surfactants of different sensitivity ...

Study on Nitrogen Foam Flooding in Fractured Reservoir

Advanced Materials Research, 2012
Aiming at the heterogeneity characteristics of fractured reservoir, a new type of nitrogen foam flooding agents is proposed. The gas/liquid ratio of nitrogen foam flooding is selected as 3:1, and the injection rate is selected as 3mL/min by the evaluation of foam resistance factor using core flooding equipment.

Resistivity Wave for Monitoring Foam Flood Propagation

SPE/IATMI Asia Pacific Oil & Gas Conference and Exhibition, 2017
Abstract In order to produce more oil in reservoir, one of the promising methods is Enhanced Oil Recovery (EOR). On the average, conventional production methods will produce only 30% of the Oil Initial In place (OIIP). The remaining 70% will be covered by EOR methods.

Study on the Foamability and Its Influencing Factors of Foaming Agents in Foam-Combined Flooding

2010 Asia-Pacific Power and Energy Engineering Conference, 2010
Based on a series of static foaming experiments of foam-combined system, and by introducing a parameter, the comprehensive foamability, this paper put forward a new method to evaluate the foaming characteristics and foam stability of foam-combined system. Moreover, this paper has set up corresponding empirical formula.

Impact of HPAM on Oil Recovery During Foam Flooding Using Nanotube-Stabilized Foams

SPE Europe Energy Conference and Exhibition
Abstract Enhancing oil recovery by injecting stable foam has been an interesting topic in the oil and gas literature lately. The use of nanoparticles, especially silica, is known for its ability to enhance foam stability, and lately, there has been research demonstrating the advantages of carbon nanotubes over silica nanoparticles in ...

Retention of CO2-Foaming Agent in CO2-Foam Flooding of Heterogeneous Carbonate Reservoirs

Brasil Offshore, 2011
Abstract The efficiency of carbon dioxide (CO2)-flooding in highly heterogeneous reservoirs may be low due to poor macroscopic sweep. One of the possible ways to increase macroscopic sweep efficiency is by reducing the CO2 mobility by foam.

The effect of foam stability in CO₂-Foam flooding

CO₂-foam flooding is implemented in order to minimize drawbacks of solely CO₂ flooding by reducing high mobility of CO₂ that could result in impoverishing of ultimate oil recovery. Surfactant solution and CO₂ gas are co-injected simultaneously to generate foam. Foam creates smoother flood front than performing only gas injection. When CO₂-foam contacts

Studies On Foam Flooding EOR Technique For Daqing Reservoirs After Polymer Flooding

SPE Improved Oil Recovery Symposium, 2012
Abstract Most of the high permeability reservoirs in Daqing oil field have been conducted by water flooding and polymer flooding. The average oil recoverable recovery has reached to 53% after polymer flooding. Currently, the further development of such reservoirs has become a big challenge due to both serious heterogeneity

Application of NMR imaging to steam foam flooding in porous media

Magnetic Resonance Imaging, 1996
Applications of NMR imaging to examine the fluid distribution of steam foam flooding as a function of concentration and volume of surfactant solution, and residual oil saturation are described. The features examined include sweep efficiency, oil recovery, resistance factor, apparent viscosity, steam quality, and foam stability.
