Distribution and Genetic Diversity of the Korean Foliicolous Lichen, Strigula depressa. [PDF]

open access: yesMycobiology
Foliicolous lichens, such as Strigula depressa, are increasingly recognized as potential indicators of subtropical ecosystem dynamics due to their sensitivity to climatic conditions, with climate change likely to expand their distribution in the South Korea.

Contributions to the Foliicolous Lichens Flora of South Korea [PDF]

open access: yesMycobiology, 2013
South Korea is covered primarily by temperate vegetation; therefore, foliicolous lichens may not be expected to play an important role in its lichen flora. However, this study describes four foliicolous lichen species, Strigula concreta, S. macrocarpa, S. melanobapha, and S. subelegans, which are new to South Korea.

More than you can see: Unraveling the ecology and biodiversity of lichenized fungi associated with leaves and needles of 12 temperate tree species using high-throughput sequencing. [PDF]

open access: yesFront Microbiol, 2022
Currently, lichen surveys are generally based on the examination of fruiting bodies. Lichens in the mycelial stage, in spores, or awaiting conditions for fruiting body formation are usually overlooked, even though they are important for maintaining ...

Distribution of Foliicolous Lichen Strigula and Genetic Structure of S. multiformis on Jeju Island, South Korea. [PDF]

open access: yesMicroorganisms, 2019
Strigula is a pantropic foliicolous lichen living on the leaf surfaces of evergreen broadleaf plants. In South Korea, Strigula is the only genus of foliicolous lichen recorded from Jeju Island. Several Strigula species have been recorded, but the ecology

A new genus and species of foliicolous lichen in a new family of Strigulales (Ascomycota: Dothideomycetes) reveals remarkable class-level homoplasy. [PDF]

open access: yesIMA Fungus, 2020
Phylogenetic analysis of some foliicolous lichens collected in Hainan Province, China, revealed a new lineage morphologically similar to Porina but phylogenetically related to Strigulaceae (Dothideomycetes), differing from the latter in ascus type.

Uncovering Hidden Lineages in Korean Foliicolous Lichens (Strigulaceae, Strigulales): Discovery of a New Cryptic Genus and Species. [PDF]

open access: yesMycobiology
Foliicolous or leaf-dwelling lichens are mostly found in (sub-)tropical rainforests; due to their sensibility to environmental changes, they may serve as biological indicators for rainforest ecosystems.

Enterographa serusiauxii, a new foliicolous lichen species from Guadeloupe

open access: yesPlant and Fungal Systematics, 2020
The new species Enterographa serusiauxii (crustose Roccellaceae, lichenized Ascomycetes) is described from Guadeloupe. It grows abundantly on leaves of Garcinia humilis and Calophyllum calaba in coastal vegetation. It was already collected in the previous century by Le Gallo, but these specimens were only identified recently by us.
