Follicular Adenoma and Follicular Thyroid Carcinoma

2010
A follicular tumor is often solitary. It often has an egg shape, is well marginated, and has a hypoechoic halo all around the tumor [5,6,10]. Most follicular tumors are solid and have homogeneous echogenicity. They can be hyper-, iso-, hypoechoic, or mixed with well-defined areas of different echogenicity within the tumor.

Pigmented Follicular Cysts

International Journal of Dermatology, 1986
ABSTRACT: Pigmented follicular cysts are newly described cutaneous cysts with characteristic histology. They are usually single pigmented lesions occurring in men between 20 and 63 years of age that often are mistaken for nevi. The eighth case of this newly described cyst is presented; a brief review of epithelial cysts and how they differ from ...

Follicular Mycosis Fungoides

The American Journal of Dermatopathology, 1994
Follicular mycosis fungoides is a rare variant of cutaneous T-cell lymphoma. We report a patient with thin plaques of mycosis fungoides studied with follicular papules. Histologically, these lesions were composed of dense infiltrates of lymphocytes within and around follicular epithelium ("folliculotropism"). This case indicates that follicular mycosis

Inverted Follicular Keratosis

Archives of Dermatology, 1964
Helwig's inverted follicular keratosis is a benign epithelial tumor appearing most commonly as a single lesion on the face of patients in the older age group. It is characterized by distinct histologic features. After careful study of 40 cases, I am inclined to agree with Duperrat and Mascaro that these tumors are closely related to the infundibulum of

Follicular Neoplasm/Suspicious for Follicular Neoplasm

2019
Thyroid FNA is a highly accurate modality for initial assessment of a nodule. A benign result has a negative predictive value (NPV) greater than 95%, and a malignant diagnosis has a positive predictive value (PPV) of 94–96%. But in 15% to 30% of cases, FNA renders an indeterminate diagnosis, leading to a clinical management dilemma.

Follicular thyroid carcinoma

Current Treatment Options in Oncology, 2002
Follicular carcinomas are rare thyroid malignancies that are difficult to diagnose preoperatively. Fine needle aspiration is an excellent diagnostic tool and should be the initial step in managing the solitary thyroid nodule. Follicular carcinoma cannot be diagnosed with certainty by cytologic features alone; the diagnosis rests on the histologic ...
