Follicular lymphoma patients with a high FLIPI score and a high tumor burden: A risk stratification model [PDF]

open access: yesVojnosanitetski Pregled, 2015
Background/Aim. The widely accepted Follicular Lymphoma International Prognostic Index (FLIPI) divides patients into three risk groups based on the score of adverse prognostic factors.

Synchronous cribriform morular variant of papillary and follicular carcinoma thyroid: A case series of a rare collision tumor

open access: yesAnnals of Oncology Research and Therapy, 2022
The synchronous presence of cribriform-morular variant of papillary thyroid carcinoma with follicular carcinoma is very rare. Collision tumors or the coexistence of histologically distinct malignant tumors in the same organ constitutes only 1.0% of all ...

Chylothorax: The Unusual Suspect

open access: yesAsian Journal of Oncology, 2019
A chylothorax results when the lymphatic duct becomes disrupted. It is an uncommon and poorly described complication of both Hodgkin’s and non-Hodgkin’s lymphomas of any histological type and grade. A 62-year-old female presented with dyspnea on exertion

Rapid Progression of Angioimmunoblastic T Cell Lymphoma Following BNT162b2 mRNA Vaccine Booster Shot: A Case Report

open access: yesFrontiers in Medicine, 2021
Since nucleoside-modified mRNA vaccines strongly activate T follicular helper cells, it is important to explore the possible impact of approved SARS-CoV-2 mRNA vaccines on neoplasms affecting this cell type. Herein, we report and discuss unexpected rapid

Species-specific differences in follicular antral sizes result from diffusion-based limitations on the thickness of the granulosa cell layer

open access: yes, 2013
The size of mature oocytes is similar across mammalian species, yet the size of ovarian follicles increases with species size, with some ovarian follicles reaching diameters more than 1000-fold the size of the enclosed oocyte.

PrPCWD lymphoid cell targets in early and advanced chronic wasting disease of mule deer [PDF]

open access: yes, 2002
Up to 15% of free-ranging mule deer in northeastern Colorado and southeastern Wyoming, USA, are afflicted with a prion disease, or transmissible spongiform encephalopathy (TSE), known as chronic wasting disease (CWD).

Neonatal exposure to xenoestrogens impairs the ovarian response to gonadotropin treatment in lambs [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
Bisphenol A (BPA) and diethylstilbestrol (DES) are xenoestrogens which have been associated with altered effects on reproduction. We hypothesized that neonatal xenoestrogen exposure affects the ovarian functionality in lambs.

Gut microbiome and aging—A dynamic interplay of microbes, metabolites, and the immune system

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Age‐dependent shifts in microbial communities engender shifts in microbial metabolite profiles. These in turn drive shifts in barrier surface permeability of the gut and brain and induce immune activation. When paired with preexisting age‐related chronic inflammation this increases the risk of neuroinflammation and neurodegenerative diseases.

NMR characterization of animals’ follicular fluids [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
Follicular Fluid (FF) provides a special environment to the oocyte during its maturation in vivo. The FF is derived from the sanguineous plasma and secretions, synthesised in the follicle wall that contain a large variety of metabolites (1).
