Follicular dynamics around the recruitment of the first follicular wave in the cow.

Biology of reproduction, 2003
The present study aimed to test the generally accepted view that a follicular wave starts with follicles newly recruited from the population smaller than 3 mm, which later compete for dominance. According to this view, subordinate follicles are expected to be too atretic to join the next follicular wave.

Follicular Dynamics, Ovulation and Conception Rates in Bitches

Reproduction in Domestic Animals, 2009
ContentsReal‐time ultrasound imaging was used in a clinical study to estimate the number of follicles of different sizes, ovulation and conception rates, and to study follicle dynamics following oestrus‐induction of bitches.Follicles were identified during late anoestrus (between 100 and 60 days prior to the pre‐ovulatory LH surge) and there appeared ...

Ovarian Follicular Dynamics of five-eighths Girolando Cows

Reproduction in Domestic Animals, 2001
The objective of this study was to examine the follicular dynamics of five-eighths Girolando cows by observing the number of follicular development waves, days of emergence of those waves, diameters of the dominant and largest subordinate follicles and the processes of follicular selection and dominance.

Follicular growth and ovarian dynamics in mammals.

Journal of reproduction and fertility. Supplement, 1997
General characteristics of female reproductive activity, such as seasonality, cyclicity and triggering of ovulation differ widely among mammals, but common mechanisms underlie ovarian function. In all mammals, follicles begin to grow from a pool of primordial follicles constituted early in life, continuously throughout the life of the female ...

Factors Affecting Follicular Dynamics in Rahmani Ewes

Egyptian Journal of Sheep and Goat Sciences, 2013
Rahmani ewes (n=25) were used to investigate the effect of subcutaneous back fat (BF), body condition score (BCS), body weight (BW) and age on their follicular dynamics. Ewes were estrus synchronized using 2 doses of Cloprostenol 11 days apart. At the second dose, ultrasound was used to count follicles and measure their diameter for 5 successive days ...

Dynamics of ovarian follicular fluid in cattle

Comparative Clinical Pathology, 2010
In the present study, ovarian follicular fluid metabolites, ions, enzymes and hormonal profiles in relation to follicular size in Holstein cattles were investigated. Fluid from small (4–5 mm), medium (6–9 mm) and large (10–20 mm) follicles were collected from 80 clinically healthy and non-pregnant adult cattles.

Follicular dynamics in sheep and cattle

Theriogenology, 1991
Abstract In sheep and cattle, recruitment (i.e. entrance in the acutely gonadotrophin dependent stage), selection (i.e. adjustment of the number of recruited follicles to the number of ovulations) followed by dominance occur at regular intervals whatever the reproductive stage (prepuberal, luteal phase, anoestrus).

Follicular dynamics and superovulatory response in heifers

Animal Reproduction Science, 1996
The study examined whether the response of heifers to exogenous gonadotrophin superovulatory treatment could be predicted from a knowledge of previous antral follicular dynamics. During a pretreatment monitoring phase, of 24 normal oestrous cycles (20.1 ± 0.33 days long) observed in 17 heifers, one, 15 and seven cycles showed one, two and three antral ...

Ovarian follicular dynamics in the llama.

Biology of reproduction, 1991
Ovarian follicular dynamics were determined in adult llamas by ultrasonography and palpation per rectum and hormone analysis (estradiol-17 beta and estrogen conjugates) of plasma and urine. The relationship of gonadotropin secretion to follicular development was determined by the analysis of plasma FSH and LH concentrations.
