Small RNA pathways in mammalian oocytes

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Three distinct small RNA pathways operate in mammalian oocytes: RNAi interference (RNAi), the microRNA (miRNA) pathway, and the PIWI‐associated RNA (piRNA) pathway. These pathways use small RNAs to guide sequence‐specific repression and contribute to oocyte biology by targeting genes and mobile elements or appear insignificant since different ...

Interpreting human follicular recruitment and antimüllerian hormone concentrations throughout life

open access: yes, 2012
The changes in the relationships between circulating antimüllerian hormone, the size of the primordial follicle pool, and follicular recruitment before and through the reproductive years have now been clarified, and show dynamic changes through sexual ...

Shape Memory Microneedle to Prevent Risks of Reproductive Hormone Therapy by Switching Sustained to Burst Release Under a Single Transdermal Insertion

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A shape‐memory microneedle system enables reproductive hormone therapy through a single transdermal insertion. The X‐shaped device sustains follicle‐stimulating hormone release for three days, and mild heating restores the O shape to trigger burst human chorionic gonadotropin release.

Targeting Post‐Irradiation Thyroid Dysfunction: Electrospun Scaffolds As A Dual‐Action Approach for Antioxidant and Immune Modulation

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
Radiation‐induced hypothyroidism follows head and neck radiotherapy due to oxidative stress and inflammation. Electrospun polycaprolactone scaffolds containing adenosine have potential to modulate thyroid repair. Scaffolds enhance thyrocyte proliferation, antioxidant enzymes glutathione peroxidase and catalase, reduce senescence and apoptosis markers ...

AI–Guided 4D Printing of Carnivorous Plants–Inspired Microneedles for Accelerated Wound Healing

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
This work presents an artificial intelligence (AI)‐guided 4D‐printed microneedle platform inspired by carnivorous plants for wound healing. A thermo‐responsive shape memory polymer enables body temperature–triggered self‐coiling for autonomous wound closure.

The Influence of Menstrual Cycle Phases on Maximal Strength Performance in Healthy Female Adults: A Systematic Review with Meta-Analysis

open access: yesSports
Maximal strength is a significant factor in achieving peak performance and injury prevention in athletes. In individualization strategies for the efficient development of athletes, it is necessary to consider the respective components separately.

At Home Detection of Ovarian Health Biomarker in Menstruation Blood

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Technologies, EarlyView.
A lateral flow assay enables the detection of anti‐Müllerian hormone directly in unprocessed menstrual blood using silica‐gold nanoshells and smartphone‐assisted machine learning analysis. The platform supports decentralized, user‐operated testing in wearable and dipstick formats, highlighting the potential of menstrual blood as a non‐invasive matrix ...

Effects of Breed on Follicular Dynamics and Oestradiol Secretion during the Follicular Phase in Sheep

open access: yesReproduction in Domestic Animals, 2007
ContentsCurrent study evaluates effects from breed and management background on follicular dynamics and endocrine output during the follicular phase of sheep oestrous cycle. Follicular phases were synchronized with three cloprostenol doses, 10 days apart, in three groups of 10 females of different non‐prolific Spanish breeds (Manchega, Rubia del Molar ...

Mathematical analysis of a model for the growth of the bovine corpus luteum [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
The corpus luteum (CL) is an ovarian tissue that grows in the wound space created by follicular rupture. It produces the progesterone needed in the uterus to maintain pregnancy.
