Widespread Verrucous Plaques of Chromoblastomycosis: A 12-Year Diagnostic Odyssey. [PDF]
ABSTRACT Chromoblastomycosis is a deep fungal infection of the skin and subcutaneous tissue. This case underscores the critical importance of thorough laboratory investigations, particularly histopathology, in chronic dermatological conditions that mimic other granulomatous diseases.

Characterization of Fonsecaea pedrosoi melanin [PDF]
The constituents of the melanin complex from mycelial forms of Fonsecaea pedrosoi were partially characterized. The pigment was mainly accumulated on large alkali-extractable, electron-dense cytoplasmic bodies (melanosomes) and, apparently, on the outer layer of the cell wall as external deposits within verrucose outgrowths.

The impact of AlphaFold Protein Structure Database on the fields of life sciences
Abstract Arguably, 2020 was the year of high‐accuracy protein structure predictions, with AlphaFold 2.0 achieving previously unseen accuracy in the Critical Assessment of Protein Structure Prediction (CASP). In 2021, DeepMind and EMBL‐EBI developed the AlphaFold Protein Structure Database to make an unprecedented number of reliable protein structure ...

C‐type lectin receptors in antifungal immunity: Current knowledge and future developments
Abstract C‐type lectin receptors (CLRs) constitute a category of innate immune receptors that play an essential role in the antifungal immune response. For over two decades, scientists have uncovered what are the fungal ligands recognized by CLRs and how these receptors initiate the immune response.

Molecular epidemiology and clinical‐laboratory aspects of chromoblastomycosis in Mato Grosso, Brazil
Abstract Introduction Chromoblastomycosis is a disease caused by melanized fungi, primarily belonging to the genera Fonsecaea and Cladophialophora, mainly affecting individuals who are occupationally exposed to soil and plant products. This research aimed to determine the clinical, epidemiological and laboratory characteristics of chromoblastomycosis ...

PxLPMO1 is a haustorial‐expressed lytic polysaccharide monooxygenase of Podosphaera xanthii that catalyses the transformation of immunogenic chitin fragments into small chitooligosaccharides, suppressing chitin signalling. Abstract Podosphaera xanthii is the main causal agent of cucurbit powdery mildew and a limiting factor of crop productivity.
