Integration of Artificial Intelligence in Biosensors for Enhanced Detection of Foodborne Pathogens

open access: yesBiosensors
Foodborne pathogens remain a significant public health concern, necessitating the development of rapid, sensitive, and reliable detection methods for various food matrices.

Membrane composition and thermodynamic identity as boundaries of life for synthetic cell research

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
What makes a cell a cell? The boundary of a living cell is not just a wall. Read as a Markov blanket, the membrane separates internal from external states, generating identity and non‐equilibrium order. Can this identity be rebuilt from scratch in a synthetic cell?

Trace elements detection in whole food samples by neutron activation analysis, k0-method

open access: yesBrazilian Journal of Radiation Sciences, 2019
The increase in anthropogenic activities has been contributing to considerable increasing of the chemical elements concentration in the environment. One consequence is the need of monitoring the elemental composition of food available for consumption ...

Tumour–host interactions in Drosophila: mechanisms in the tumour micro‐ and macroenvironment

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This review examines how tumour–host crosstalk takes place at multiple levels of biological organisation, from local cell competition and immune crosstalk to organism‐wide metabolic and physiological collapse. Here, we integrate findings from Drosophila melanogaster studies that reveal conserved mechanisms through which tumours hijack host systems to ...

Application of membrane-based extraction techniques to food and agricultural samples

open access: yes, 2006
The use of membrane-based extractions are increasingly seen as offering an alternative to conventional sample preparation procedures in analysis of chemical species in both food and agricultural samples.

Stimulator of interferon genes agonist augmented antitumor immunity of osimertinib in Egfr‐mutated lung cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Combining osimertinib with the STING agonist ADU‐S100 activates innate and adaptive immunity to overcome the non‐inflamed microenvironment of Egfr‐mutant lung cancer. This combination increases NK and CD8+ T‐cell infiltration, associated with activation of the STING‐IRF3 pathway and local immunogenic cell death.

Flow Enabled Target Capture Halbach‐based magnetic enrichment increases circulating tumor cell capture from blood in metastatic cancer patients

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Pair‐wise comparison of the CellSearch and FETCH enrichment technologies for circulating tumor cells (CTCs) from metastatic breast, prostate, and small cell lung cancer patients shows an increased capture of CTCs using FETCH enrichment. The clinical implementation of circulating tumor cells (CTCs) as a predictive tool for therapy efficacy in the ...
