Classification of the foot kinematics during gait and the characteristics of the knee and hip kinematics in individuals with pronated foot

Journal of Biomechanics
Overuse injuries are often caused by pronated foot and the associated abnormal lower-extremity kinematics during dynamic activities. Various patterns of foot kinematics are observed among individuals with pronated feet during dynamic activities, resulting in different dynamic kinematics of the proximal joint.

Foot kinematics and kinetics during adolescent gait

Gait and Posture, 2003
Gait analysis models typically analyze the ankle joint complex and treat the foot as a rigid segment. Such models are inadequate for clinical decision making for patients with foot impairments. While previous multisegment foot models have been presented, no comprehensive kinematic and kinetic databases for normal gait exist.

The effect of additional activation of the plantar intrinsic foot muscles on foot kinematics in flat-footed subjects

Foot, 2019
Strengthening exercises of the plantar intrinsic foot muscles (PIFMs) are often prescribed to flat-footed subjects because of the capacity of the PIFMs to support the medial longitudinal arch (MLA). However, it is unclear whether the capacity of the PIFMs to support the MLA is enough to change the foot kinematics in flat-footed subjects.

Comparison of Foot Kinematics and Foot Plantar Area and Pressure Among Five Different Closed Kinematic Tasks

Journal of the American Podiatric Medical Association, 2020
Background Different closed kinematic tasks may present different magnitudes of knee abduction, foot pronation, and foot plantar pressure and area. Although there are plenty of studies comparing knee abduction between different tasks, the literature lacks information regarding differences in foot pronation and ...

Kinematic correlates of walking cadence in the foot

Journal of Biomechanics, 2010
Evidence has frequently been reported of modifications in gait patterns within the lower limb related to the cadence of walking. Most reports have concerned relationships between cadence and kinematic and the kinetic changes occurring in the main joints and muscles of the lower limb as a whole.

Reliability of Kinematic Measurements of Rear-Foot Motion

Physical Therapy, 1992
The purpose of this study was to examine the ability of a video-based, computer-interfaced motion analysis system to provide reliable data. Ten subjects with no significant orthopedic or neurological dysfunction and ranging in age from 22 to 45 years (mean = 29.6, SD = 7.8) were tested.

Foot and Ankle Kinematics and Ground Reaction Forces During Ambulation

open access: yesFoot and Ankle International, 2006
BACKGROUND: Assessing patients with foot and ankle disorders by observation of gait is dependent on the examiner's experience and cannot provide information about three-dimensional movement, forces, or motion of segments of the foot. Gait analysis models
