Nonlocal friction forces in the particle-plate and plate-plate configurations: Nonretarded approximation [PDF]

open access: yesSurface Science, 2020
In the nonrelativistic approximation of fluctuation electrodynamics, using the specular reflection model and the nonlocal dielectric permittivity of a metal, we obtained simple analytical expressions for the friction forces in the particle-plate and plate-plate systems upon relative motion of the bodies with constant velocity.

Study on the thrust generated by a thin plate imitating fish’s caudal fin

open access: yesNihon Kikai Gakkai ronbunshu, 2016
Purpose of this study is to investigate the relation between the shape of a thin plate and thrust force. The thin plate is what imitates the fish’s caudal fin. We adopt an equilateral triangular, square, regular pentagon and hexagon as the shape of the

Numerical prediction of the bearing capacity of plate anchors subjected to combined loads

open access: yesJournal of Hebei University of Science and Technology, 2016
To predict the bearing capacity of plate anchors subjected to combined loads, based on the assumption that there is no separation between the plate and soil, the numerical model of the motion and transformation of the plate anchor subjected to combined ...

An Analysis of the Dynamic Characteristics of a Force Plate

open access: yesMeasurement + Control, 1972
Experiments have been performed in which the ground reaction force during walking has been measured simultaneously by two different means; a shoe having a spring-loaded heel and fitted with a transducer was worn by subjects walking over a force plate ...

Numerical Simulation on Cutting and Fracturing of Rock Plate with One Side Fixed and Three Sides Free

open access: yesAdvances in Materials Science and Engineering, 2020
Conical pick is a rock cutting tool that is commonly used in roadway driving. Pick wear frequently happens in the course of breaking hard rock. The current paper shows a new method to solve the problem of pick wear. The rock is preslit with the saw blade

Clustering Golfers through Force Plate Analysis

open access: yesProceedings, 2020
Golf is a sport which requires players to use ground interaction to generate clubhead speed in order to propel the ball towards the target. Force platforms are a technology which can be used to measure these ground reaction forces. Golfers generate force
