Clinical Application of the Forced Oscillation Technique
The forced oscillation technique (FOT) is a noninvasive method with which to measure respiratory system resistance and reactance during tidal breathing. Recently, its clinical application has spread worldwide with the expansion of commercially available broadband frequency FOT devices, including MostGraph and Impulse Oscillometry.

A medical information system for monitoring respiratory function and related nonlinear dynamics [PDF]
In this paper the nonlinear effects in the respiratory systems at low frequencies are measured and evaluated in healthy children and healthy adults. To this aim forced oscillations technique (FOT) has been used to non-invasively measure the lung tissue ...

Diagnostic accuracy of respiratory impedance parameters to detect airflow obstruction in adults
OBJECTIVE: The present study was aimed to evaluate the diagnostic accuracy of impedance parameters to detect airflow obstruction and the severity of airflow obstruction in adults. METHODS: The spirometry parameters (forced expiratory volume in 1 s [FEV1],

Investigation of a drag reduction on a circular cylinder in rotary oscillation [PDF]
Drag reduction in two-dimensional flow over a circular cylinder, achieved using rotary oscillation, was investigated with computational simulations. In the experiments of Tokumaru & Dimotakis (1991), this mechanism was observed to yield up to 80% drag ...

Evaluation of impulse oscillation system: comparison with forced oscillation technique and body plethysmography [PDF]
The impulse oscillation system (IOS) has been developed recently to measure respiratory system resistance (Rrs) and reactance (Xrs) at different frequencies up to ≥25 Hz. IOS has, however, not been validated against established techniques. This study compared IOS with the classical pseudorandom noise forced oscillation technique (FOT) and body ...

The volume-dependent Forced Oscillation Technique
Abstract This paper describes a novel extension of the Forced Oscillation Technique (FOT), namely the volume-dependent Forced Oscillation Technique (v-FOT). This extension is based on the measurement of the respiratory impedance over the whole lung volume.

Forced oscilation technique and hyperinflation in COPD
AbstractForced oscillation technique (FOT) is a simple method used to measure the mechanical impedance of the respiratory system. It can be a valuable test in poorly cooperative patients (pts) and in severe COPD.Little information exists concerning its value on hyperinflation in COPD pts.The aim of this study was to analyze the correlation (corr ...
