Forced oscilation technique and hyperinflation in COPD

open access: yesRevista Portuguesa de Pneumologia, 2008
AbstractForced oscillation technique (FOT) is a simple method used to measure the mechanical impedance of the respiratory system. It can be a valuable test in poorly cooperative patients (pts) and in severe COPD.Little information exists concerning its value on hyperinflation in COPD pts.The aim of this study was to analyze the correlation (corr ...

Evaluation of alveolar recruitment maneuver on respiratory resistance during general anesthesia: a prospective observational study

open access: yesBMC Anesthesiology, 2020
Background Alveolar recruitment maneuvers enable easily reopening nonaerated lung regions via a transient elevation in transpulmonary pressure. To evaluate the effect of these maneuvers on respiratory resistance, we used an oscillatory technique during ...

Bistable Mechanisms 3D Printing for Mechanically Programmable Vibration Control

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
This work introduces a 3D‐printed bistable mechanism integrated into tuned mass dampers (TMDs) for mechanically adaptive passive vibration suppression. Through optimized geometry, the bistable design provides adaptable vibration reduction across a broad range of scenarios, achieving effective vibration mitigation without complex controls or external ...

Reference value of Forced Oscillation Technique for healthy preschool children

open access: yesAsian Pacific Journal of Allergy and Immunology, 2021
The reference values of Forced Oscillation Technique (FOT) parameters of the inspiratory and expiratory phase for preschool children have not yet been established. To evaluate FOT measures in Thai healthy preschool children.Preschool children, aged 3-6 years, were screened.

Evaluation of the Potential of Laser Shock Peening Compared with Cold Expansion for Improving Fatigue Resistance of Riveted Lap Joints of Aerospace Grade 7175 Al Alloy

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
This study investigates laser shock peening for enhancing fatigue performance of riveted aerospace aluminum joints. A comparative approach with cold expansion combines fatigue testing and synchrotron X‐ray methods. Integrating mechanical testing with residual stress and strain characterization provides insights into how different treatments affect the ...

Interval Oscillation Criteria for Second-Order Forced Functional Dynamic Equations on Time Scales

open access: yesDiscrete Dynamics in Nature and Society, 2014
This paper is concerned with oscillation of second-order forced functional dynamic equations of the form (r(t)(xΔ(t))γ)Δ+∑i=0n‍qi(t)|x(δi(t))|αisgn  x(δi(t))=e(t) on time scales. By using a generalized Riccati technique and integral averaging techniques,

Forced oscillation technique for optimising PEEP in ventilated extremely preterm infants [PDF]

open access: yesEuropean Respiratory Journal, 2020
Ventilatory settings are critical in mechanically ventilated extremely preterm newborn infants due to the risk of ventilation induced lung injury (VILI) and subsequent development of bronchopulmonary dysplasia (BPD) [1]. The positive end-expiratory pressure (PEEP) settings usually rely on blood gases, oxygen requirement, lung auscultation, evaluation ...

Surface Tension Measurement of Ti‐6Al‐4V by Falling Droplet Method in Oxygen‐Free Atmosphere

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
In this article, the temperature‐dependent surface tension of free falling, oscillating Ti‐6Al‐4V droplets is investigated in both argon and monosilane doped, oxygen‐free atmosphere. Droplet temperature and oscillation are captured with one single high‐speed camera, and the surface tension is calculated with Rayleigh's formula.

Understanding and Optimizing Li Substitution in P2‐Type Sodium Layered Oxides for Sodium‐Ion Batteries

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This work explores Li‐substituted P2 layered oxides for Na‐ion batteries by crystallographic and electrochemical studies. The effect of lithium on superstructure orderings, on phase transitions during synthesis and electrochemical cycling and on the interplay of O‐ versus TM‐redox is revealed via various advanced techniques, including semi‐simultaneous
