The interaction of the two principal wind forces on roof tiles
Journal of Wind Engineering and Industrial Aerodynamics, 1981Abstract Wind forces on roof tiles laid over a low-permeability underlay can be separated into two principal mechanisms. The forces due to the airflow over the steps formed by the tile courses, referred to as the surface flow force, have been used as the basis for the British Standard Code of Practice BS5534 Part 1.

Variance analysis of edge grinding forces of ceramic tile with diamond cup wheels
International Technology and Innovation Conference 2006 (ITIC 2006), 2006Diamond cup wheel is an important tool for machining of decorative material ceramic tile. The grinding force varies with different grinding parameters and the compositions of diamond cup wheel are important factors to effective grinding of ceramic tiles.

Modified Body Force Model for Air Flow Through Perforated Floor Tiles in Data Centers
Journal of Electronic Packaging, 2016Generally, porous jump (PJ) model is used for rapid air flow simulations (without resolving the tile pore structure) through perforated floor tiles in data centers. The PJ model only specifies a step pressure loss across the tile surface, without any influence on the flow field.

Space-tiled colloidal crystals from DNA-forced shape-complementary polyhedra pairing
ScienceGenerating space-filling arrangements of most discrete polyhedra nanostructures of the same shape is not possible. However, if the appropriate individual building blocks are selected (e.g., cubes), or multiple shapes of the appropriate dimensions are matched (e.g., octahedra and tetrahedra) and their pairing interactions are subsequently forced, space ...

Evaluation of modified body force (MBF) model for rapid air flow modeling through perforated tiles
2015 31st Thermal Measurement, Modeling & Management Symposium (SEMI-THERM), 2015Perforated floor tiles are used to supply cooling air from a subfloor pressurized plenum to server racks in raised floor data centers. Consideration of momentum rise due to acceleration of air through pores is critical for correctly predicting the flow field downstream of a perforated tile.

Adhered cladding is widely used in building façade decoration; however, interfacial voids severely compromise structural safety during service. The study focuses on adhered ceramic tiles, conducting single-point impact and vibration acquisition tests on specimens with pre-defined void defects of varying sizes and shapes.
