The formalin test in mice: effect of formalin concentration
Pain, 1990The effect of different formalin concentrations on the nociceptive response in the formalin test was examined in mice. Subcutaneous formalin injection induces 2 distinct periods of high licking activity: an early phase lasting the first 5 min, and a late phase lasting 20-30 min after the injection.

Formalin: Nephrotoxic teratogen?
Journal of Obstetrics and Gynaecology Research, 2010AbstractFormaldehyde is an extensively used chemical; its ill effects have been of concern. Its nephrotoxic effects in laboratory animals and carcinogenic effects on humans are well established. We report of a pregnant woman with a normal ongoing pregnancy with a morphologically normal fetus.

Intractable Hematuria and Formalin
Journal of Urology, 1983Massive hematuria, which is most frequently caused by radiation for pelvic malignancies, after treatment with cyclophosphamide or secondary to aggressive anticoagulation, represents a vexing problem for the practicing urologist. The existence of numerous therapeutic approaches results from the lack of an effective therapeutic modality. Lately, formalin

The subcutaneous injection of formalin into the rat upper lip generates behavioral responses that last several minutes. The time course of the response is similar to what is observed following formalin injection into the paw, i.e. biphasic, with an early and short-lasting first phase followed, after a quiescent period by a second, prolonged (tonic ...

The formalin test: Effects of formalin concentration and short-term halothane inhalation
Regional Anesthesia and Pain Medicine, 2001In order to evaluate the effects of formalin concentration and inhalational anesthetics in formalin tests, we injected 5 concentrations of formalin into awake and anesthetized rats and investigated their behavior and the c-fos immunoreactivity of their spinal cords.Sixty adult male Sprague-Dawley rats were divided into 10 experimental groups.

The orofacial formalin test in rats: effects of different formalin concentrations
Pain, 1995In this study of the orofacial formalin test in rats, the effects of different formalin concentrations (0.2%, 0.5%, 1.5%, 2.5%, 5% and 10%) on the behavioural nociceptive response (face rubbing) was investigated. The histological responses of the skin were also evaluated.
