Formate Reduces Ischemic Injury in Female Hearts Lacking Alcohol Dehydrogenase 5
Ischemic heart disease is a primary cause of death for men and women in the United States. Recent epidemiologic findings, however, suggest that premenopausal women have inherent protection from many cardiovascular pathologies compared to age‐matched men,

Molybdopterin cofactor from Methanobacterium formicicum formate dehydrogenase [PDF]
The molybdopterin cofactor from the formate dehydrogenase of Methanobacterium formicicum was studied. The cofactor was released by guanidine denaturation of homogeneous enzyme, which also released greater than 80% of the molybdenum present in the enzyme.

Gut microbiome‐derived metabolites show promise in cancer research and therapy
The metabolites produced by the gut microbiome, which are subject to regulation by multiple factors, play a pivotal role in the progression of various types of cancer. These metabolites not only function as potential biomarkers for the early detection and monitoring of tumor development, but also actively participate in cancer therapeutic processes ...

Alterations in brain metabolites in rats with experimental periodontitis: A metabolomic approach
Abstract Background Periodontitis (PD) is a chronic inflammatory disease with systemic effects. Emerging evidence suggests a link between periodontal inflammation and neurological changes, but the biochemical mechanisms in key brain regions, such as the hippocampus and amygdala, remain unclear.
