The Formazan Reaction in Carbohydrate Research
1958Publisher Summary This chapter discusses the formazan reaction in carbohydrate research. A significant new method for preparing formazans is that of Ried and Hoffschmidt, which makes the heterocyclic formazans easily accessible by way of substituted esters of pyruvic acid.

New Aspects of the Chemistry of Formazans
Russian Journal of General Chemistry, 2019Synthesis, structure, properties, and reactivity of verdazyls based on formazans, as well as of metalverdazyl complexes, formazanate BR2-complexes (R = F, H, Ph), and other Group 13 and 14 formazanate complexes, were considered. Special attention was focused on the study of redox-active formazanate ligands.

Metal complex formazans. Part II. The reaction of copper salts with certain tetradentate formazans
Journal of the Chemical Society A: Inorganic, Physical, Theoretical, 19711,5-Di-(2-hydroxyphenyl)- and 1-(2-hydroxyphenyl)-5-(2-carboxyphenyl)-3-substituted formazans react with both cupric acetate and cuprous chloride in methanol to give square planar copper(II) complexes. In contrast, under comparable conditions, 1,5-di-(2-carboxyphenyl)-3-substituted formazans give copper(II) complexes containing two molecules of water ...

SYNOPSISIn sections of fixed tissue, periodate‐oxidized mucosubstances that have been treated firstly with Phenylhydrazine and secondly at a pH near 9 with a diazonium salt, such as diazotized aniline or tetrazotized 3,3′‐dimethoxybenzidine, are converted into highly‐coloured derivatives which could be formazans, azo‐compounds, tetrazenes, or a mixture

Complexes with Carbazones, Thiocarbazones, and Formazans
1988Spectrophotometric studies on acetate-buffered solutions (pH 4.8) of Mn2+ ions and ligand 1, 2, or 3 at 25°C and ionic strength I=0.1(NaClO4) reveal the formation of the Mn(HL)+ complexes in each case which show the following absorption maxima λmax (in nm), the molar extinction coefficients loge e (in L·mol−1·cm−1), and the stability constants log K ...
