Formoterol fumarate + glycopyrrolate for the treatment of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease

Expert Review of Respiratory Medicine, 2016
Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) is characterized by a high disability and increasing mortality. Bronchodilators are the cornerstone of pharmacological treatment in COPD, while therapeutic optimization with an improvement in symptoms and compliance represent the actual goals. This has led to the development of devices that combine different

Effect of formoterol fumarate treatment on exercise-induced bronchoconstriction in children

Annals of Allergy, Asthma & Immunology, 2006
Exercise-induced bronchoconstriction (EIB) is common, particularly in children. To compare the protective effect of single doses of formoterol fumarate via Aerolizer with placebo and albuterol in children with EIB.In this randomized, double-blind, double-dummy, crossover trial, 23 children (aged 4-11 years) received formoterol, 12 or 24 microg ...

A novel stability-indicating method development and validation using reverse-phase ultra–high-performance liquid chromatography (RP- UPLC-PDA) technique for quantification of related substances and assay of Formoterol fumarate in its inhalation solution (20 μg mL−2)

Acta Chromatographica
Formoterol fumarate (FMTR) is given to treat asthma, pulmonary illness, and bronchospasm. The impurity profiling/related substances UPLC approach for quantification of six FMTR related substances (FMTR-RS-1 to FMTR-RS-6) and FMTR simultaneously in low ...

NMR characterisation of structure in solvates and polymorphs of formoterol fumarate

Magnetic Resonance in Chemistry, 2012
The solid‐state structures of two polymorphs and two alcoholates (ethanol and isopropanol) of formoterol fumarate have been investigated by a combination of NMR techniques. First‐principles shielding computations are combined with NMR data to successfully relate peaks to their crystallographic positions for the solvates, including atoms that are in ...

Sensitive High Pressure Liquid Chromatographic Assay Method for Formoterol Fumarate

Journal of Liquid Chromatography, 1993
Abstract The HPLC method for determination of formoterol uses a 3-μm octyl bonded phase column, 4.6 × 50 mm, and a mobile phase of water-acetonitrile-trifluoroacetic acid in a ratio of 800:200:0.5 (v/v/v) at a flow rate of 2.0 ml/min. The limit of quantitation is 0.02 μg/mL, based on injection of 200-μL aliquots and the average between day coefficient ...

Development and Application of RP‐HPLC Method for Determination of Fluticasone Propionate and Formoterol Fumarate in a Pharmaceutical Inhaler

Separation Science Plus
A sensitive and simultaneous reversed phase‐HPLC quantification method was developed for complex combined pharmaceutical metered dose inhaler, containing fluticasone propionate (FP) and formoterol fumarate dihydrate (FFD) as active contents.

Quantitative nuclear magnetic resonance analysis of solid formoterol fumarate and its dihydrate

Journal of Pharmaceutical Sciences, 2003
Carbon-13 cross-polarization magic-angle spinning nuclear magnetic resonance spectra of anhydrous formoterol fumarate and the dihydrate are presented, together with some relaxation time measurements. The latter enabled quantitation of mixtures of the anhydrate and dihydrate to be made.

Thermodynamic Stability and Crystal Structures for Polymorphs and Solvates of Formoterol Fumarate

Journal of Pharmaceutical Sciences, 2006
Polymorph screening of formoterol fumarate was performed in 12 solvents, followed by evaluations of thermodynamic stability. Three anhydrates, a dihydrate, a diethanolate, a diisopropanolate, and a dibensylalcoholate were found. The crystal structure of three solvated modifications and of the most stable anhydrate was investigated.

Compatibility and Aerosol Characteristic of Formoterol Fumarate Mixed with Other Nebulizing Solutions

Annals of Pharmacotherapy, 2008
Background: Patients with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPO) are often given admixtures of nebulizable drugs to minimize the time of administration in treatment regimens. Objective: To evaluate the physicochemical compatibility and aerodynamic characteristics of formoterol fumarate 20 μg/2 mL when mixed or sequentially nebulized with ...
