The Fate (Outcome) of Clinically Apparent Single Lesion and Oligofocal Nephroblastomatosis Treated According to SIOP/GPOH Protocols for Wilms Tumor

open access: yesPediatric Blood &Cancer, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background The management of clinically apparent single lesions or oligofocal nephroblastomatosis, a facultative precursor of nephroblastoma, remains debated. Methods We retrospectively analyzed 37 patients with clinically apparent single or oligofocal nephroblastomatosis (two to three lesions per kidney) among 2347 patients registered between

Ion-Beam-Synthesized Colloidal Silver Nanoclusters in Crystalline Sapphire as Third-Order Optical Material

open access: yesIEEE Photonics Journal, 2012
Silver ion implantation in single-crystalline sapphire has given rise to the formation of silver nanoparticle-sapphire composites, which have been imaged using transmission electron microscopy, and confirmed using linear optical absorption and Rutherford

Third Order Trace Formula

open access: yes, 2012
In (J. Funct. Anal. 257, 1092-1132 (2009)), Dykema and Skripka showed the existence of higher order spectral shift functions when the unperturbed self-adjoint operator is bounded and the perturbations is Hilbert-Schmidt.

On Bestvina-Mess Formula [PDF]

open access: yes, 2005
Bestvina and Mess [BM] proved a remarkable formula for torsion free hyperbolic groups $$ \dim_L\partial\Gamma=cd_L\Gamma-1 $$ connecting the cohomological dimension of a group $\Gamma$ with the cohomological dimension of its boundary $\partial\Gamma$. In

Fairness in Decision-Making - The Causal Explanation Formula

open access: yesAAAI Conference on Artificial Intelligence, 2018
AI plays an increasingly prominent role in society since decisions that were once made by humans are now delegated to automated systems. These systems are currently in charge of deciding bank loans, criminals' incarceration, and the hiring of new ...

Dietary Protein Intake and Peritoneal Protein Losses in Peritoneal Dialysis Patients

open access: yesTherapeutic Apheresis and Dialysis, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Introduction Peritoneal dialysis (PD) patients lose protein in their waste dialysate, potentially increasing their risk for malnutrition. We wished to determine whether there was any association between losses and dietary protein intake (DPI). Methods DPI was assessed from 24‐h dietary recall using Nutrics software.

Photonic Crystal Fiber Strain Sensor Based on Modified Mach–Zehnder Interferometer

open access: yesIEEE Photonics Journal, 2012
In this paper, a novel strain sensor is proposed and demonstrated by employing a modified photonic crystal fiber (PCF)-based Mach–Zehnder interferometer, in which a collapsed region is introduced at the middle point of the PCF to improve the ...

Sequence determinants of RNA G‐quadruplex unfolding by Arg‐rich regions

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We show that Arg‐rich peptides selectively unfold RNA G‐quadruplexes, but not RNA stem‐loops or DNA/RNA duplexes. This length‐dependent activity is inhibited by acidic residues and is conserved among SR and SR‐related proteins (SRSF1, SRSF3, SRSF9, U1‐70K, and U2AF1).
