Multilocus sequence typing of the invasive pest Halyomorpha halys (Hemiptera: Pentatomidae) and associated endosymbiont reveals unexplored diversity

open access: yesInsect Science, EarlyView.
A multilocus sequence typing approach is proposed to explore Halymorpha halys genetic diversity, taking into consideration both insect nuclear markers and markers from the gut symbiont “Candidatus Pantoa carbekii.” Increased information was revealed regarding the number of distinct holobiont haplotypes in native and invasive populations of the pest ...

Covers of the projective line and the moduli space of quadratic differentials [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
Consider the 1-dimensional Hurwitz space parameterizing covers of P^1 branched at four points. We study its intersection with divisor classes on the moduli space of curves. As an application, we calculate the slope of the Teichmuller curve parameterizing

Sanitation felling against the European spruce bark beetle: A matter of intensity and forest type Tagli fitosanitari contro il bostrico tipografo: una questione di intensità e tipologia forestale

open access: yesAgricultural and Forest Entomology, EarlyView.
We assess the effect of sanitation felling performed in 2022 in North‐Eastern Italy on bark beetle damage that occurred in 2023 across eight spruce forest types, as evaluated using multispectral satellite imagery. Bark beetle damage was reduced only at very high or very low sanitation felling rates.

Core inflation in the Euro area: an application of the generalized dynamic factor model [PDF]

open access: yes, 2002
Since the second half of the nineties the euro area has been subject to a considerable accumulation of temporary and idiosyncratic price shocks. Core inflation indicators for the euro area are thus of utmost interest.

Effective equidistribution for some unipotent flows in $PSL(2, \mathbb{R})^k$ mod cocompact, irreducible lattice

open access: yes, 2018
Let $d \geq 2$, and let $\Gamma \subset PSL(2, \mathbb{R})^d$ be an irreducible, cocompact lattice. We prove a sharp estimate up to a logarithmic factor on the rate of equidistribution of coordinate horocycle flows on $\Gamma \backslash PSL(2, \mathbb{R})

Procedural and Therapy Peripheral Intravenous Catheters: A Framework for Safety, Quality and Patient‐Centred Care

open access: yesJournal of Advanced Nursing, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Aim To introduce a novel conceptual framework that differentiates peripheral intravenous catheters according to their dwell time and therapeutic purpose, in order to improve the suitability of material choice, safety and cost‐effectiveness. Design Concept based on clinical guidelines, expert consensus and recent peer‐reviewed evidence.

Comparing Alternative Predictors Based on Large-Panel Factor Models [PDF]

open access: yes
This paper compares the predictive ability of the factor models of Stock and Watson (2002) and Forni, Hallin, Lippi, and Reichlin (2005) using a “large” panel of US macroeconomic variables.

Mixing Flows on Moduli Spaces of Flat Bundles over Surfaces

open access: yes, 2017
We extend Teichmueller dynamics to a flow on the total space of a flat bundle of deformation spaces of representations of the fundamental group of a fixed surface S in a Lie group G. The resulting dynamical system is a continuous version of the action of

Geriatric Models of Surgical Care: A Scoping Review

open access: yesJournal of Advanced Nursing, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Aim To synthesise literature on hospital‐based geriatric models of care for older adults undergoing surgery, examining structures, team composition, governance and nursing contributions. Design Scoping review. Methods Following JBI methodology, two reviewers independently screened articles against eligibility criteria (Population: adults ≥ 65 ...
