The (Glg)ABCs of cyanobacteria: modelling of glycogen synthesis and functional divergence of glycogen synthases in Synechocystis sp. PCC 6803

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We reconstituted Synechocystis glycogen synthesis in vitro from purified enzymes and showed that two GlgA isoenzymes produce glycogen with different architectures: GlgA1 yields denser, highly branched glycogen, whereas GlgA2 synthesizes longer, less‐branched chains.

Organ‐specific redox imbalances in spinal muscular atrophy mice are partially rescued by SMN antisense oligonucleotides

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We identified a systemic, progressive loss of protein S‐glutathionylation—detected by nonreducing western blotting—alongside dysregulation of glutathione‐cycle enzymes in both neuronal and peripheral tissues of Taiwanese SMA mice. These alterations were partially rescued by SMN antisense oligonucleotide therapy, revealing persistent redox imbalance as ...

Hydration management in rugby: a comparative study on the forward and back positions of the Indonesian national team

open access: yesPedagogy of Physical Culture and Sports
Background and Study Aim. In the Indonesian national rugby team, there is a lack of awareness among back and forward players about the amount of fluids they lose while playing their respective positions.

Tau acetylation at K331 has limited impact on tau pathology in vivo

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We mapped tau post‐translational modifications in humanized MAPT knock‐in mice and in amyloid‐bearing double knock‐in mice. Acetylation within the repeat domain, particularly around K331, showed modest increases under amyloid pathology. To test functional relevance, we generated MAPTK331Q knock‐in mice.

Structural insights into an engineered feruloyl esterase with improved MHET degrading properties

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
A feruloyl esterase was engineered to mimic key features of MHETase, enhancing the degradation of PET oligomers. Structural and computational analysis reveal how a point mutation stabilizes the active site and reshapes the binding cleft, expading substrate scope.

Representation Growth and Rational Singularities of the Moduli Space of Local Systems [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
We relate the asymptotic representation theory of $SL(d,\mathbb{Z}_p)$ and the singularities of the moduli space of $SL(d)$-local systems on a smooth projective curve, proving new theorems about both. Regarding the former, we prove that, for every d, the

Noise sensitivity of sub- and supercritically bifurcating patterns with group velocities close to the convective-absolute instability

open access: yes, 2003
The influence of small additive noise on structure formation near a forwards and near an inverted bifurcation as described by a cubic and quintic Ginzburg Landau amplitude equation, respectively, is studied numerically for group velocities in the ...

Self-Contrastive Forward-Forward algorithm

open access: yesNature Communications
Agents that operate autonomously benefit from lifelong learning capabilities. However, compatible training algorithms must comply with the decentralized nature of these systems, which imposes constraints on both the parameter counts and the computational resources. The Forward-Forward (FF) algorithm is one of these.
